CSS lets you create a different layout for pda's and other mobile devices, that way the site automatically forms itself to the media that is viewing it. Then you don't need to make another site devoted entirely to mobile devices.

I prefer the edit button myself
Taking an enemy on the battlefield is like a hawk taking a bird. Though it enters into the midst of a thousand of them, it pays no attention to any bird other than the one it has first marked.

I was just thinking about this myself a while back when my computer broke for a week. So, I decided to try playing via my mobile. Unfortunately, I couldn't see the armies because the map was too small

Okay, thought for you, but those of us that are addicted to this game on the level of wanting to access it from our cellphones probably have the map memorized, though, I wouldn't mind having a simple stationary black and white for reference only. Now, to display your armies, text it...keep it simple.

I can visualize the entire map as could most of these players.

I have a virgin mobile Oyster. And, if I could just get a simple drop down menu for where to place my armies and a list of who has what where, list everyones armies by their name and in location order, start from alaska and work it across and down....

Alaska, NW Terr, Greenland, Queb, Ont, Alberta, W US, EUS, Cent Am, Ven, Peru, Argen, Brazil,
Iceland, Scand, Ukrain,S Eur, North Eur, Grt Brt, Nrth Afrc, Egypt, Est Afrc, Congo, Sth Afrc, Madigascar.
Middle East, Afghan, Ural, Siberia, Yakutsk, Irkutks, Kamcha, Japan, Mongolia, China, India, Siam,
Indonesia, New Guinea, Estrn Aus, Wstrn Aus.

Now, believe it or not, that is from memory and , pretty sure I didn't miss one. Not even going to check.

If I know where my guys are and how many I have, and I know where there guys are and how many there are, I only need to know how many and where to place to be able to choose where to attack.

Drop down menus just like on the web ...maybe even have it so that, what is next to it is listed with what is on it.

Click on menu:
Pop up of simple circle with number in it and name of territory....around this approximately where the territories are on the map, how many where...

bring up wst US you get a number of men x with a bubble above and to the left for Alberta, above and centered for Onterio, to the right for East US, and below for Central.
Only list those terries that are adjacent to keep it simpler...

Now, my display is TINY...I mean, pathetic... but, I can still see pop ups.

CC on Mobile/iPhone/iPod

Post by Quicksigns »

With everyone using their phones on the internet as much as they do, can we make CC mobile friendly? I don't know what would be involved in doing this, but I have my PDA with me at all times and have some friends with phones and we would all love to make our moves from them.

Where's the "I don't like this idea" option...

The Mapmakers want to make bigger maps - not any smaller...

I have used my iPod touch, which is essentially the same thing.

It is terrible if you are unfamiliar with the map / settings, but not bad generally.

The scroll boxes for the game log and chat are broken though, and you can't post in chat either.

I'd rather Lack fix the problems we're having now before trying to add more functionality to the site that is really, for the most part (except the diehard freestyle players) unneccessary.

It would be nice for those who can afford it when they go on vacation. No deadbeating or accountsitters needed. Just get on the phone and bam.

Where did he say anything about making maps smaller  . Just to try to make games compatitable. Saying - what you said before cicero edited out - so rapidly doesnt help anyone. Ive used me nokia n95 to run the game on wap 2.0 software and its fine. Be an interesting addition although knowing the maps helps. The only problem is the data charges which is why i dont do it very often.

We considered this pretty early on but it was set as a really low priority and has gotten lower since then :)

A lot of phone browsers (opera for example) don't render javascript well and so can't handle CC.

Then there is the size and data charges which have been mentioned.

I know a couple of people use their iPhones to play from time to time, but I don't know of anyone who plays regularly using a WAP portal.

I use my phone on wap 2.0 softare and it words just operates on a system of scrolling around the page as if was normal size so seeing things isnt a problem. the data charges are crippling but if you get free unlimited data then we will see.

Due to the biased Poll already posted - I didn't want to vote any of the options - therefore I wanted the standard "I don't like this idea" option.

Also - this suggestion is akin to the "I've got a 50" LCD CC looks shit - can we get a load of Hi-res maps here please.

Both are very limited markets that a few percent would use - therefore aren't necessary.

Quite a few would use this, I think.

I would use it myself, I have a palm pilot which I've tried to use on it, but the buttons don't work properly on it. It always resets attacks and forts to the top territories in the list. Nor can I end turn. I've had to be satisfied by being able to plan my moves by just looking at the map itself.
