Goodbye Conquer Club - Goodbye bad dice - GOODBYE STRESS
I'm SICK and TIRED of watching all of my armies being rendered USELESS by this RETARDED random dice roll file.
Or however the hell it works.
I'm done with Conquer Club. This is supposed to be fun, but all I do is get mad and bitch about the dice. I can no longer watch as 20 armies fall flat against 3 (without winning a SINGLE FUCKING ROLL.)
It happens ALL THE TIME... and I'm done with it.
Good luck with your site guys. I hope it works out for you.

Now, if you were saying something to the effect of:
"Goodbye hours of scheming my next attack at the expense of thinking about anything else."
"Goodbye rushing to the computer like some junkie hoping to see that magical bolded dot next you your username."
Or any other myriad reasons why one (me?) might need to go cold turkey on this site, I'd hear you loud and clear. However, anyone who thinks that the dice are stacked against them is delusional and childish.
Have a nice life.

I don't think he's saying they are stacked "against him." He's saying that the dice are anything but random. Hell, how many times have you rolled and KNOWN that you weren't going to win the next roll? It's especially frustrating when 1 army takes out 5 or 6 of yours. The odds of that are not so great that it should be a common occurrence, but it is. I understand his frustration. There are days that I absolutely hate this game.
"Look, Chalmers, let's understand each other... I don't like you."
erm now u posted this why?
to raise attention to the issue with the dice u have...
or
to prove that your mental age is smaller than your real age...
or
to see how many friends you have...
or
to draw attention to urself so u have a feeling of self importnace...
all of these reasons are pointless because we knew about alll of them and the dice are random which is why your dice rolls do screw u up now and again but i be tu forget all the times u defended sooo well because you didnt even notice

That's a very important point (although I do sincerely wish you would favor us with a "yo" everytime you give us a "u"
How many of us check the game log so carefully to see that our opponent had 15 armies on Iceland before his turn and after attacking our lone army on Greenland had exactly one army remaining on Iceland at the end of his turn?
You can be pretty sure our opponent remembers those 7 spectacularly unsuccessful attacks, but it's at least conceivable that we don't even notice how heroically our lone Greenlander fought.

yeah, i'm tired of the crybaby dice smack-talk too. if you won every roll it wouldn't be a game - what would be the point? i, like everyone else, have had some horrendous luck with the dice but thats just the nature of the beast. i also try to stay away from the "auto-suicide".... er, the auto-attack button as much as i can. if you are loosing rolls STOP rolling, try again with some reinforcements next round.
I guess the odds are here somewhere on the site, but just to show them again.... You can do the math in your head I guess, but this guy did a program to calculate true odds.
And the dice analyzer for my throws aint exactly, but pretty damn near those results. You dont even have 50% chance to take 2 of the defender with 3vs2, hell.. not even 40%.
It obvious that every once in a while these 8vs2 defeats occur.. even worse from time to time.
Just gotta warn about them 9vs3... they are cursed... thats where lackattack made his hack
Kennedy Lemke @ http://www.plainsboro.com/~lemke/risk/ wrote:In fact, the program I wrote does NOT do random dice rolls and calculate the result. Instead, the program finds the TRUE odds by doing a brute-force calculation. In other words, it calculates the results of all possible outcomes of the dice (there are a finite number of dice combinations and outcomes), then reports the precise odds of either the attacker or defender winning or losing.
Odds of winning various dice combinations in Risk
Attacker: one die; Defender: one die:
Attacker wins 15 out of 36 (41.67 %)
Defender wins 21 out of 36 (58.33 %)
Attacker: two dice; Defender: one die:
Attacker wins 125 out of 216 (57.87 %)
Defender wins 91 out of 216 (42.13 %)
Attacker: three dice; Defender: one die:
Attacker wins 855 out of 1296 (65.97 %)
Defender wins 441 out of 1296 (34.03 %)
Attacker: one die; Defender: two dice:
Attacker wins 55 out of 216 (25.46 %)
Defender wins 161 out of 216 (74.54 %)
Attacker: two dice; Defender: two dice:
Attacker wins both: 295 out of 1296 (22.76 %)
Defender wins both: 581 out of 1296 (44.83 %)
Both win one: 420 out of 1296 (32.41 %)
Attacker: three dice; Defender: two dice:
Attacker wins both: 2890 out of 7776 (37.17 %)
Defender wins both: 2275 out of 7776 (29.26 %)
Both win one: 2611 out of 7776 (33.58 %)

I know exactly what you mean - not so long ago I went for a huge elimination but the odds were slightly in my favour. I got it down to my opponent's last territory but it was 2v2. So, rather than let the player be eliminated by someone else, I gambled and it paid off. In the long run it probably won me the game. Such a thrill!
But back to the topic in hand - why did this crybaby post here and after just 8 games!

I think there is a natural hatred for the way dice work on the internet because people feel like they have no control... where as when they actually throw dice, they still have no control, but they FEEL like they have control.
Also, the idea that its a computer rolling the defender dice and not the defender himself... its a disassociation thing.

I haven't been playing here all that long. I have a RISK game on my laptop and I tend to yell more often at it because I think the computer opponents get better rolls than I do. Here I seem to find myself as much pleasently surrised as annoyingly dissapointed. But here it's different.
You see if the dice are bad for me they are probably bad for you, so it all balances out. If the dice are good for me they are probably good for you, so it also balances out. So far it seems to me that sometimes the magic works and sometimes it does not.
I think it was halfway in my second game when a got a few good rolls. "Oh BEEP, I did good." Followed by "Oh BEEP, I think I could win." Followed by "Oh BEEP, I just won!"

Meh. I agree; seems the dice are against me at all the wrong moments, particularly when it appears that my opponents roll through me (excuse the pun) at whim. Having said that, i did just return from 2 territories left to I R WINNAH this morning; and the one roll that i really really needed to happen came through.
Out of curiosity though, why doesn't the website simple use a random number generator?
