john9blue (Replaces OutSider). I guess he ignored one too many invitations, or maybe he just couldn't play anymore for some other reason.

I guess we'll never get a scoring update sorted in a table

It's updated...I've sent it to Pander. Just waiting for him to upload it and edit the post.

it was my post from July 15th. until today I didnt received invitations for match vs ConquererKing's reserve from Batch 3, but that reserve already started Batch 4 games.

I think schedule is one important part of every tournament, so sending Batch 4 games before Batch 3 games is violating the rules of playing tournament. I am talking about player who replaced [player]ConquererKing[/player]. it is [player]madgoody[/player].
he received invitations for Preliminary round 4 before Preliminary round 3, and I think it is not fair because the schedule is not followed in that case.

The reason he's played Batch 4 games first is because we're unable now to create new games whenever we want (as the map is closed). I have to specially request any new games to be created, and will be doing so in a big batch soon.

The batches are only there for the benefit of freemium players to ensure they only need to have 3 games at once in this tournament max. It makes no difference to the scoring whether you win a batch 4 game or a batch 3 game, and it makes no difference which are played first, as we expect competitors to try and win every game they play, so I don't really think there's any rule violationor unfairness about the situation at all.

Will try and get your final games created as soon as possible.

it is big difference. to prove that I will give you example. when Batch 3 games will be sent then 2 players will have 10 played games, 3 players will have 9 played games and 1 player will have 7 played games.
players with 9 player games will be in advantage than players with 10 played games because they know which score in which number of rounds is needed to advance. if player A has score 6-3 and player B has score 7-3 then player A is in great advantage because he knows in how many rounds he may win last game to advance. if he must win last game in 5 rounds, or may win last game in 10 rounds to advance, he will have completely different strategy in last game.
with the same analogy, the player with 7 played games will have benefit both to players with 9 played games and to ones with 10 played games.

that is why, in sports competitions (like this tournament is), last games in group ALWAYS starts at the same time. you may check real world cup schedule and you will see that round 1,2 games in every group was not played at the same time while round 3 games from the same group started at the same time. of course, it was after previous rounds were completed.

if it is not started at the same time, then some teams/players get benefit of knowing other results before their last game is started.

but no matter, I understand now that you have big problems with availability of new maps, so you may forget this issue.

I can see your point with regards to number of rounds, and it could affect strategy. In an ideal world we could have waited for everyone to finish each batch before starting the next; like you say in many real sports competitions games start at the same time.

The problem here is mainly caused by people signing up and then ignoring invitations (it would be much nicer if they'd just PM one of us to let us know we can put a reserve in!) which leaves us chasing people.

Just wanted to beat my own drum a bit - just finished 10-0 (Commie Korea group), anyone else with a perfect qualification round? :D

(Of course, it took no small amount of luck to pull off a streak like that, was surprised myself when I realized.)

I just finished my final game and I think---unless I have miscalculated---I will advance on rounds with an 8-2 record. Regardless, I had a fun time playing with my fellow Ghanaians: kenchingy, johnboss13, nudge, bernooch and esther87. Good luck in your future games!

Can only apologise for the delay here folks - beaurocracy around getting games created on a dead map is proving quite a stumbling block! Rest assured we are trying our best to get the final games completed ASAP and onto the final event (where all games each round can be sent simultaneously).

Um, can we at least update the standings? 36 days without updating is not a tournament, it's a Kafkaesque nightmare.

I won my cleanup game, Game 7448617. That gives me a record of 7-3. It looks as if I will be the one advancing if drunkmonkey loses.
