"Current standing" doesn't really fly... If not keeping it up-to-date allowing players to keep track of the group pondering between the batches, it's pretty much useless to keep public.

URGENT NOTICE! The invitations were sent out wrong! I was supposed to play Kenchingy and esther87, but I only got invited to play Kenchingy while HE is playing esther87 in what should be my game! Meanwhile, what should be HIS game with esther87 is being played by nudge, who's playing THREE GAMES IN BATCH FOUR! Thus, even though I've only lost twice and could otherwise advance on goal differentials (potentially), I still have one game to play that someone else is playing, so I have no chance of advancing currently. Is there a way to rectify this?

Much thanks,

Not that this matters, but a one game playoff would have been better than who won quicker at a tie breaker. Our division had three people tie at 7-3 and it would have been great to play a 3 way tiebreaker game. Still it was a very fun tourney. Thanks for hosting it.

I agree with Ha. Rounds can come down to the drop you get with this map.

I can clarify the rules regarding this situation. As you've correctly stated, Mexico had a 3-way tie to finish with, with [player]HighlanderAttack[/player], [player]fumandomuerte[/player] and [player]Lobster Crush[/player] all ending on 21 points. The way we work out the winner is therefore on rounds taken to achieve their wins (so the losses don't count).

This is because we are trying to keep in line with the format of the real tournament (tie-breakers aren't played in the world cup, goal difference is used to decide positions, and in cases where goal difference is level, goals scored - the same reason USA finished above England in Group C). It is perhaps an unfair system, but the World Cup has time restraints. We don't have the same constraints but want to try and be a bit more realistic.

I can confirm [player]fumandomuerte[/player] will progress from the Mexico group, with the final standings as follows:

Player Wins Losses Points Rounds
fumandomuerte 7 3 21 49 (rounds taken to win 7 games in this case - least taken progresses)
Lobster Crush 7 3 21 55
HighlanderAttack 7 3 21 61

This will be more useful during the next round, when it won't take so much time on my part to update the scores on a daily basis. The advice for players (who can't figure out how to use the game finder option to search out their group's scores) is to just win as many games as possible! The player with the most wins progresses.

Correct, it's very luck based! Just like a football game can come down to a lucky ball dropping kindly to the striker in the box after rebounding off two defenders.

Sound fine to me--thanks for hosting this spectacular. I wish I was moving on but such is life. I will just go win another tourney for now :)
