[Rules] Deadbeat Kick - 5 misses in first ten, 1 in every 4
Concise description:
At the moment on a game to be kicked for deadbeating you have to miss three turns in a row, In reaction to a thread in the question and answers forum ( http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=122117s ), I am putting forward this suggestion that we make a maximum limit of turns missed non-consecutively before elimination.
Specifics/Details:
A maximum (non-consecutive) turn limit before being kicked out of a game, The Maximum missed turns being 5 turns in the first 10 (Kicked after missing 5 turns) turns and then 1 turn in every 4 afterwards. (kicked after missing 2 turns.)
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
it will help to get rid of people who intentionally miss turns slowing the game down for everyone in the game at the time.

Re: Max Number of Missed Turns Before Someone Gets Kicked
this is good for most games, but what about games that go hundreds of rounds? 5/200 turns is not very many turns missed for a lot of people (still 97.5% turns taken)

How would you suggest to do it then Jrh?
I think it needs doing but willing for any input on the specifics front.

Re: Max Number of Missed Turns Before Someone Gets Kicked
The only way you might possibly do this is by requiring players to have a minimum turns taken percentage in a game. In other words, if you miss more then X% of your turns, you get kicked out. That rule can only kick in after a certain number of turns has been taken, to avoid someone being kicked out early in the game for missing only two consecutive turns.
I'm thinking about "if the game is at least in round 11 (10 turns taken), and your turns taken percentage in a certain game drops below 70%, you get kicked out.
I don't really see any reason to change it though. The amount of times such a rule would kick in are extremely rare, and easily dealt with by Foeing where appropriate.

Re: Max Number of Missed Turns Before Someone Gets Kicked
I think the best would be something like you're kicked out if:
a) you miss 5 turns before Round 50 or
b) your turns taken drops below x% after Round 50 (I would say 90%, but that is a little stringent)
the only problem is that the two step process may be hard to code, I wouldn't know. Also, freemies who miss a turn or two every weekend would be totally screwed (not sure if that's a bad thing or not

Re: Max Number of Missed Turns Before Someone Gets Kicked
wouldnt what you are suggesting be really hard to code?
Like coding the system to kick out people based on percentage and number of turns

Re: Max Number of Missed Turns Before Someone Gets Kicked
you could just do it if it drops below say 3 missed turns in a row or 95%. Surely that wouldn't be too hard to code?

Re: Max Number of Missed Turns Before Someone Gets Kicked
The problem with just 3 missed turns in a row or 95%, is that if a player misses the second turn in a game, he is at 50%. You don't want to kick someone for just missing one turn, because then you lose the "this is a casual game".

Re: Max Number of Missed Turns Before Someone Gets Kicked
your right. i think this needs to be implemented but needs to be worked around a bit... so how would you do it then? because its those people that deliberately miss turns.

maybe doing a multi-tiered setup like if you miss 5 pairs of turns in a row or your turn % for the game goes below 90% then you're kicked?
high score : 2294
02:59:29 ‹Khan22› wouldn't you love to have like 5 or 6 girls all giving you attention?
10/11/2010 02:59:39 ‹TheForgivenOne› No.

How often would something like this come up in say 100 games? More than 10? 5? 2?

But surely 10-5-2 to 0 would be an improvement and stop people throwing single turns knowing they won't be kicked cause they havent missed three.

Re: Max Number of Missed Turns Before Someone Gets Kicked
Please make it happen. I've played in too many games where players miss two in a row, then come back for one turn, then miss two more, then come back for one, then miss 2, then play 1.
I say start with 5 total missed turns for the first 20 rounds. After the 20th round, you get 1 missed turn for every four rounds. If you can't check into the site more frequently than that in a casual game, then you shouldn't be in the game. Same goes for speed, if real life is hitting you every 10-15 minutes for 10 minutes at a time, then you probably shouldn't have dedicated yourself to that speed game.

That seems simple, reasonable, and code-able.

and would stop people seriously abusing the system. Updated first post.
Re: Max Number of Missed Turns Before Someone Gets Kicked
I like this idea. To simplify though,
If Round > 10
And If Turns Taken < 75%,
Then Kick.
If Round > 10
And If Turns Taken < 75%,
Then Kick.

Re: Max Number of Missed Turns Before Someone Gets Kicked
10 rounds isn't very much.
You're saying if someone's taken 8/10 of their turns—that is, less than would be eligible even if he missed them consecutively—he should be kicked?

Re: Max Number of Missed Turns Before Someone Gets Kicked
Edited. 75%. That's 3 for the first ten rounds, 5 for the first 20, and 8 for the first 30.

So i miss round 1, 5, and 9, all of a sudden, i'm kicked. Not good enough.

I like it. Make it happen.
Edit: I thought briefly about the 1 turn in every 4 after the 10th round that it might be too harsh. But I thought about it some more and realized that missing the second turn is what kicks you, not missing the first. Should make sure that missing the 5th in the first 10 is what kicks, though.

Really? Missing 33% of your turns SHOULDN'T get you kicked??
Well I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion.
