Not to be insulting or anything, but are we getting on the case of punishing people for having lives? I can actually joke that i don't have one, since i spend a lot of my time being sent to the hospital

Explain how this is a punishment. Being selected to play first is a privilege, which is doled out at random. If you miss that turn, you shouldn't still be rewarded with extra troops.
Look at it this way: Under the way it's set up now, if you get the luck of going first, you have two options - play first or play second with a troop deferral at the end of your turn. Under my proposal, you either play first, or if you miss, you play second. No punishment at all.

New Game Option for Deferred Troops
Let game creators either allow or not allow deferred troops in many maps it can be used to the advantage of someone who skips a turn seems like it would be fairly easy to do and would discourage missing turns and use of cheap tactics

Re: New Game Option for Deferred Troops
Cool. Not sure if it is possible to code this, but ANYTHING is possible, right? I would turn off deferred troops in all of my games and only join games with no deferred troops. That tactic blows and I've seen it enough to have to foe people who use it and foe people who miss a lot of turns for fear that they use it as well.
By creating this as a game option, I can unfoe tons of players and finally feel secure that I'm not going to sit through 10 minutes of an opponent's missed turns only to have them dropped deferred troops ont eh map and screw up the game.
Kudos to you for coming up with an option that sovles some problems with the game!!!

the problem with this suggestion is that deferred troops are there for a reason. if you dont like that someone is getting deferred troops then attack them to reduce their bonus. the point of deferred troops goes right with the direction of this site, which is friendly. The point is that you can miss a turn, it will cost you, but you can still miss it. some ppl have to miss for whatever reason and so deferred armies are there to offset that.

what about deferred troops only in normal games, not in speed games?

what if you have to run and perform cpr? (i have had this happen) or even taking out the garbage. life comes up sometimes....its there to help offset accidental miss of turns, but not to replace it. and thats y u can take them out or hit their bonuses....then they get less deferred troops.

Re: New Game Option for Deferred Troops
I'm not saying get rid of deferred troops i'm saying make it optional i understand that you can knock players out or try lowering their bonuses but sometimes you get bad rolls or are in a situation where this doesn't work and just end up overextending yourself and getting screwed on the next turn. All i'm asking is to make it a game option i don't think this would be too difficult and people who want to continue to play with deferred troops can do so and others who don't won't have to.

Sorry DB, I disagree with you on this one. Speed games would be a great place to remove the bonus of deferred troops. Seems to me that tactic gets used most often in speed anyways. If you set aside the time to play a speed game, tough shit if life comes up. You shouldn't disaffect someone else's experience and win a game just because you had to change some diapers. I shouldn't have to wait for you in a speed game and others shouldn't have to wait for me. I set aside the time to play the game, so should you.

So what, now you want to punish people because life comes up? Say a thunderstorm knocks power out for 10 minutes. All of a sudden it's YOUR fault because this happened? Give me a break

I would think the concerns over the safety of your family would come first in a thunderstorm that knocks out the power, over logging back in after missing two turns to complete your game.

You believe that a power outage necessitates certain danger to a family?

Are you trying to tell me that if the power goes out for 15 minutes than you should be punished instead of just 10. Do you not get that i'm requesting for deferred troops to be OPTIONAL just don't join games without them if it bothers you so much why should we have to deal with people using cheap strategies i don't understand why people shouldn't be punished for missing a turn they made everyone else in the game wait for them and when it is used as a strategy it is both annoying to wait and ends up punishing the player who actually takes his turn.

If you implemented this, then it would defeat the purpose of why it was put there in the first place. Besides, yes sometimes ppl use it as a strategy, but it doesnt usually work very well consider most ppl get annoyed and try and eliminate the offending party anyways. there will be other games...it doesnt happen that often.

Get rid of "deferred" troops after missing a turn

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
- When somebody misses a turn, he/she misses a turn and shouldn't get troops for that. It's really unfair, because it often turns the game in favor of whoever missed a turn.

This has been discussed again and again. This would hurt more people than it would help. You are basically punishing people for having life intervene, or something close to that. We can't force this upon everyone. It could be made as an option, but there are way more con's then pro's if this is forced upon the whole of CC.

and the cons are...
yes, real life gets in the way. That is why I do not support QH's suggestion, it is way too harsh for something as simple as one missed turn. However, why should there basically be no punishment for missing a turn (depending on the game type of course). You are supposed to take your turn, therefore there should be some sort of bad thing that happens to you for not taking a turn. Deferred troops are hardly bad

Re: Get rid of "deferred" troops after missing a turn
Yeah, and their is a possibility of someone breaking your bonus, without you having a chance to take it back. I've had times when internet was lost for about 60 hours. I had no way to contact anyone to sit for me, and nobody had my password. This is suddenly my fault, and i should be punished for this. I ended up losing 19 of the 20 games i missed, because i lost basically ALL my bonuses, and every strategic plan. This would punish NR's that may forget about the site for a day. This may punish people who DO have account sitters, but they get busy in life. If you miss round 1 in a game, and your opponent has knocked you down from 14, to 10 because of this, and has established a bonus, well, you are going to lose that game 9 times out of 10, leaving 1 out for phenomenal dice. Not every time when someone misses a turn, does it help them. It is your fault for not knocking down the person who missed the turn.
**Ironically, I missed a turn in a speed game because i was writing this response. If i had no deferred troops, i would have no chance in that game.

Re: Get rid of "deferred" troops after missing a turn
Well, the idea is to not miss turns. With deferred troops, missing a turn does not matter, or hardly matters, in many situations (notice I did not say every, in 1v1's and team games with only 2 teams it can kill, especially with cards). Yes, things crop up. But you are not supposed to miss turns, and there should be some sort of action taken if you do.
If you think there's a possibility you're internet's going to go out again, get someone's number. I know kooler and ljex exchanged numbers. They're both mods, join their little group.

missing turns is not a legit strategy. It has been proven again and again.
This website is a social gaming site and they wont penalise people for having a life

So they prefer to penalize those of us who do not miss turns? Especially after we WAIT for the missed turn and rudely take our turn...
Deferred troops need to go. Some do use this as a strategy and have success with it.
