Beginners Beware

This is a post that myself as a n00b shall use to warn other beginners of players who WILL kill them. this is meant as two things.

A. Obviiously it is a warning for new players who cannot achieve victory
against posted players
B. A post to challenge advanced players by mentioning other advanced
players
C. A little ego boost for said players.

This player in a recent game using a advanced card strat in an escalating game wiped five players off the map. New or rookie players are hereby warned from playing this player as you will not survive. Even if he does not win, you have no chance in Heaven or Hades.

This RT junkie is a definite N00b Crusher, also i must really suck at escalating games because like the first player he wiped the other five players in one turn. Now that is not the only reason Demigod and Madmartigan are on this list, the main reason is that they had the foresight to properly play their armies and choose their conquer routes to avoid running out of men or coquering into a corner. Well done.

As of 8 11 PST on 3/2/07 Madmartigan was rated by the members of Conquer Club to be an Average player. A total of four players posted poll choices.

NOTE: This list will only post players I have played or seen the games of, if you would like to make this list then pm me when ever you have a game going. I would suggest winning any game you invite me to.

Play Sequential, the freestyle games are flawed because some people have no lives and watch their games like hawks. And escalating ends like that most of the times.

Freestyle IMO just isn't risk, I have tried all the different styles and freestyle seems a shade too biased for me.

by avoiding the better opponent you risk never having the opprutunity of learning and gaining the seasoning that comes from being defeated by a pro. I have learned alot through my various loses from these supposed noob victimizers.. IT is after all just a game. !!

I feel a little victimized

If u have a look at my last 23 games you'll see i've only played 3 which have had more than one private... and probably only another half dozen which have had only one private.

It's too risky for my score to be constantly playing privates... to many points to lose. I don't go out and purposely play them - but it has been nice getting a few wins thanks to n00b mistakes

demi i wasnt saying ur a N00b Hunter, thoise guys suck, ur a N00b Crusher, meaning N00bs have no chance in a gamethat ur also in. This means that if ur in a game then so are other good players. Steven was quite good, or at least better than me.

Rich, thankyou but most n00bs are not ready to challenge Generals, i am just giveing a warning so that they see the obvious losses, watch and learn dont try and die.

I will never say that a person is n00b hunting on this post that is for the Flaming section. this is for players that as a n00b i have no current chance of beating, or surviving a game that they are in.

Escalating has it's merits as it sort of undoes the luck factor created by what kind of set you make as well as the fact that many flat rate games can be greatly altered by somebody making a mixed set after the first three cards. Those 10 armies can make a big difference in being the first to truly secure a bonus area. That doesn't happen in elscalating because there is really no advantage in being the first to cash.

It certainly is a different game and the fact that it becomes all about cards by the end is a little unfortunate.

Now freestyle, on the other hand is undeniably lame and does little more than reward people who have no life. In fact, it irritates me that it is the default setting and you have to make a point of choosing sequential as I have inadvertantly set up freestyle games by failing to do so.

I understand what you mean. I guess it does kind of mitigate how lucky your initial allotment of territories is, but overall I think escalating relies more on luck than flat rate, because as you said, the endgame becomes solely about cards. It's like someone suddenly acquires nukes.

Recently I played a freestyle/escalating game where I had a player down to a single army and he ended up winning. Kind of cool in a way..but I stick almost exclusively to sequential/flat rate.

blue falcon, i am guessing that was because he had a set ant you were very thin, this is part of the tactic of escalating, and it is nothing to do with freestyle gameplay

I'm a n00b warning other n00bs that I over manipulate 3 person freestyle to get my points because I felt like it. I am not taking this post seriously and regret to have felt moved to make a response as this bumps your topic. Everyone knows the really n00b people don't even read the forums.
