Arguments for or Against the E.U.
I need to know some of the arguments for and against the formation of the E.U. for a history paper. Help would be greatly appreciated

Ok as late as i am i will give you my opinion.
Before i continue, know that i am not politically minded and i dont argue in a political way. I cant give you facts or statistics i just know what i know.
Personally i am all for the uk joining the EU for a simple and possibly wrong reason.
You see at the moment America is the worlds super Power. Soon China with its superior economy will rival that power at least in some aspects.
I would rather like my country to at least have some part in the future of our world and on its own it cant do that. Not least because of the appauling desiciouns our goverment make.
So i would like to join the EU for security and so like the United States we can be the united Nations. We would all have something to add to a hopefully thriving Europe.
Hope that helps

For:
common external tarrif
common free market
steady growth through more than one country
economies of scale (advantaging from being a bigger market force (buy in bulk etc))
Against:
Patriotism, lack of national identity
Loss of control in internal matters
Richer countries might subsidies rather than benefit
Long term plan might ruin countries short term
Smaller countries have less of a say in how it is run
No local representation

Please, just ONE THREAD without this lunacy.
Jay - the EU parliament is in Strasbourg, which is in France. It has 27 (not 10) members. It began with the Treaty of Rome.
The Western Europe Alliance is a defence-based alliance. It has been spuriously confused with the EU by bible bashers eager to tie anything they can into their 'new roman empire' apocalyptic nonsense, except that the WEA began with the Treaty of Brussels.
Try again.

How about we keep it to things that aren't crazy conspiracy theories?
Why? Maybe your test examiners are devout Pentecostalists, in which case referencing Revelations in a test on the EU might actually get you extra marks. Did you think of that?
