Or maybe, the last person/team to join is locked out from making their move until another person/team does (like if they went last in the previous round). EDIT: Also, if the team didn't make their turn within 12 hours, The other team would be able to.

The main complaint I have about freestyle is a potential technique that exists and I find frustrating - i believe i have already seen it used. by making your turn last and then waiting around for someone to begin their turn you can begin your next turn as soon as they have and cash in any bonuses acquired without having to defend it. This works best if you end your turn during a peak usage time so that the wait is usually short and you don't miss the chance. a simple counter to this would be to only allow one person to go at a time. it is impossible to prevent if the person is actually there waiting so the key is to wait and catch them away from the game when you make your move(unless while waiting another player begins their turn) - potentially simple but still a frustrating element to have to considder.

That is a better idea by far, I like this.
I second this!

Far-Q Industries: Telling you where to go since 2008.
at the beginning of the game, have a 30 second clock count down (like the turn clock), no one is allowed to play during this time
Specifics/Details:
so the clock counts down and everyone has to wait 30 seconds
at the end of the 30 seconds the clock immediately resets to 5 minutes and play starts just like a normal speed freestyle game
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
mostly for 1v1s, this will save the person who started the game. Right now, the person who joins last has a big advantage. They start the game and can go directly in. The person that made the game has to continually stay on the my games page hitting refresh as fast as possible in order to have any chance to get into the game in time, and continually hitting refresh for 10 minutes is not fun (yes, I just did that). I was playing the world cup map, and it was really hard for me to be able to start my first turn against a good opponent with 12 terts left, I always had 11 so I only got 3 troops while my opponent got 4.
With this suggestion, the PM saying "you're speed game has started" would be sent as soon as the game fills. Then, the person/people that joined before that would have 30 seconds to get to the board and the game would start fairly as it should be.
It would also help all of the assdoodlers out there who try to win their game in 10 seconds or less

I really like this suggestion, in fact because I want there to be at the start of the game is the only reason i host city mogul games that are manual. Also this would make speed manual freestyle a bit more fair in my opinion. Nice Suggestion
ljex, I agree that manual makes it fair, but it makes it completely different, that only really works on maps like city mogul like you said, where it doesn't matter
This will make a big difference in FS 1v1 manual games as well. As it stands, if you join 2nd in a manual game, you can usually deploy and end first. If the two stacks happen to be next to each other, the player who ended deployment first, and starts his turn first, will usually win.
This will give the player who started the game a fair chance to deploy and end turn before his opponent.
nice suggestion, it is somewhat disappointing when someone joins an automatic freestyle game and knocks down a few territories (lowering my deploy likely) and would give people time to study the map/drop, I like it
based on other suggestions, this needs more support to get through no matter that all 9 people like it so far. I hate getting spam PM's/ wall messages, so I'm not gonna send those, but please support this if you like the idea

Make a poll
I think this should be implemented I think this shoudnt be implemented
Fully support it. Its quite annoying when you go on to take your turn 10 seconds after the game has started and your territ bonus is already gone or the troops were you could've blocked a bonus is gone.
i think if they do that, which is a great idea, then the speed game should also have a 2 minute run time......5 minutes is way to long to have to keep hitting the "R" button...may stop alot of people wearing out their finger muscles
