Life Span of a CC'er
so what is the average life span of a user here at CC? I'm not talking about how long they're going to live but how long do people stay on this site before throwing in the towel?

Much much lower.
CC has 428889 members as of right now.
Which is almost half a million. Only 20 000 of those are active. A LOT of people who joins this site don't stay for more then 1 login. I wouldn't be suprised if the average didn't even reach over a week.

your right most new recruits don't ever come back. I was thinking in terms of users that become active and then lose interest

After the first year the pain goes away, fallowed by sense of peace and tranquility .But ! most people don't have the patience to wait that long so I'd say a week.As for the the rest of us,we must have masochistic tendencies. Please sir ,may I have another ?
Re: Life Span of a CC'er
I'm not as active as i once was mostly because of a lack of interest. The only thing that really keeps me interested is the forums

Re: Life Span of a CC'er
I bet im in a small group of people that has individually logged in and played turns every single day since joining roughly 3.5 years ago. Ive had a babysitter for a turn or two here or there, but other than that, Ive made nearly every single one myself.
Mostly, I dont want to bother other people because I have too many, or I have so few it just doesnt matter.
That being said, no doubt ive come close to ending, and just recently had 6 games going, all build games, but das shloss has sucked me back in for a bit here, along with the occasional tourney

I don't play too many games, but I am probably gonna stay forever unless real life takes over.

172 right now, I think that's pretty low for you...
Re: Life Span of a CC'er
I've been here for just over a year, at one point I almost didnt come back because I had taken on to many games and i was gettin really annoyed and had had enough of spending all my time here.
Once the game numbers game down however, the fun came back. So I think if anyone goes overboard and CC starts taking priority over whats going on in the real world their life span will burn out pretty quick, but if you keep it as a hobbie and have time put aside for it then you could be on here til your face falls off. Just so happens right now I have a lot of spare time

Re: Life Span of a CC'er
Ignoring the recruits that don't even take a turn. i'd say the average lifespan is about a year. i base this on people who buy a premium and let it run out then leave and not renew. many stay for longer. many leave before that.

Re: Life Span of a CC'er
depends on the player really, and whether he is active and married with children, or 35 and livin with his parents
Re: Life Span of a CC'er
I've been here for 3 years in October and showing no signs of quitting yet. Though I have been running my games down of late due to work commitments
The person who got me into this lasted about a year and a half I think.

Joined on Sun Apr 02, 2006. Bought premium the next day I think and has kept it since. Have had a few breaks taking some time off, but has - during this active period - played regularly for 1½ years I think.
