2010 FIFA World Cup
First off, lol at the fact that an American is making this thread. You Brits must be furious!
Secondly, only 10 days to go and either I'm blind and there's no World Cup thread? What's up with that!
So, who's going to win it?
Personally, I route for France though I'm American and have absolutely no French blood in me (it's a long story). They'll make it out of their group fine but beyond that...I see trouble.
I think the Americans have more will power than the English this year and they'll get farther in the tournament.
If France somehow doesn't win it all, I put my money on Spain.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup
All I want is for New Zealand to win a game in the group stage even though im Australian. The grin on my face would be this big
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup
Is the world cup soon? You'd have thought the papers would have mentioned something

If you believe that, I'll wager 3 conquer club games and the points that are won or lost.
If America get further than England... 3 games of singles and I let you win all three.
If England get further... You let me win 3 games
if America and England get knocked out in the same round - it's a tie and no CC games will be needed.
Do we have a wager?

France are gonna be crap, they had to cheat to get into the world cup. With Domenech as their manager they are gonna be crap.I think Spain will progress to the later stages but i dont think they will win it.
My money is on Argentina.they had a bad qualifying run but i think maradona will get it together for the world cup.

The USA has come far and I don't think their #9 ranking is a sham. But they are still not an elite team. The biggest reason is their lack of great offensive scorers. Also our ball handling has not caught up to the likes of teams like Brazil.
High Score: #76 3053

You guys need to recruit some of the Teabaggers. I bet they'd know how to handle those balls.

America and Mexico's FIFA world rankings are all artificially high due to the amount of qualifying games they play against tiny countries included within North America.

You're playing football. Don't handle the ball unless you're the Goalkeeper.
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup
England squad:
Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green.
Defenders: Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock
Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips.
Forwards: Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney
No walcott or baines, madness.

Baines deserved to be dropped. Heskey over Darren Bent is a fucking ridiculous decision, for strikers Heskey has scored 3 goals all season, Bent had scored like 26. Ridiculous. Also, dropping Walcott was so dumb, should've been Carrick .

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup
Heskey had to go, he's the only forward who's forged a good partnership with rooney. He doesn't score, but rooney looks like a different class of player when he's alongside him. We're just not good enough to play without a target man

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup
I've only just voted for Spain, so I wasn't aware of the poll results.
0 votes for Italy, but 2 votes for the USA?
1 vote for Brazil, 1 more vote for USA?
Dumbarse voting

USA shouldn't be on the poll.
