Great Britain

Great Britain is well and truly.... great. Although we have our little bastards to say the least, we surely are a fantastic country. Anyone who dares to disagree will get a Union Jack up their ass. Well..... :D

'britishness' is a nonsense concept created by successive unionist governments to quell scottish, welsh and irish nationalism.

didnae work :wink:

edit;
no, i'm not proud to be 'british' and would never consider myself such (but that's a different matter), britain has an appauling history of deciet, cowardice and murder. the 'empire' was a joke, land stolen from natives who had nothing but spears to defend themself - you're proud of that?

are you proud of what you did to ireland or scotland, by the way?

I dont really think thats fair because the romans were worse than the british but they're always remembered as a good thing

i'm not saying what the british did wasn't bad but we were one of the first empires to give nations freedom without too much of a fight

I'm neither proud to be British nor English; after all, what have we got to be proud of? What have we ever had to be proud of (apart from 1966)?

I've said it before, but I can't see the point of being proud of happening to be born in one particular country over another. I'm glad I was born in a developed country which, for all its faults, treats its citizens pretty well on the whole. But I'm human first of all, not British (or Scottish.)

i don't think many welsh, scots or northern irish would say that they are proud to be british, as each is struggling to assert it's own national identity and democratic parliament (or assembly at least).
whether this is a good thing or not is up for debate.
i for one would say i was welsh, not british.

I'm Canadian (woo-hoo!), although the British controlled Canada before it became its own country. so I guess we owe a fair amount to the British, although before the British took Canada the French owned it, but they weren't strong enough to keep it, so that's natural selection (or whatever you call it) for ya. Anyway, I guess 1 of my favourite civilizations is the British.
