That's a great wall!

And no, the Great Wall of China is not brown.

If anything it should be a lighter grey. However I think it's just fine as it is.

Awesome map.

Guiscard, are you still considering the 'break' in the wall...hm...a few pages back ago?

Selective photo. The photo is taken at dusk and the surrounding country side is arid brown.

The best case for "brown" that can be made is that different sections have different colour. And early walls were made out earth, wood and brick. But even then the most accurate colour is not brown but orange.

That said the Jiankou section of the Great Wall, built during the Mongol Empire (1368) under the Ming dynasty used white stone. See photo.

Perhaps the wall should be a lighter grey?

Here are some more GWOC photos. Here.

Great map, you did your homework.
Religion and science both profess peace (and the sincerity of the professors is not being doubted), but each always turns out to have a dominant part in any war that is going or contemplated.

Why does it matter if it has too many attack borders?
And, that's the point of it being an in-the-centre continent, to be able to attack a lot of areas.

But I do see why you think that, because if someone got the red area first, then it would be easy to attack other areas, but then it has to defend many areas too.

I think it's fine, no need to bother with making less attacking/defending borders.

Good job =)

the red part has to have lots of attacking options because, although it can attack many other parts, this means that also many parts can attack it.

OK guys lets see what you reckon to this little change.

A bit darker and a tinge of brown, also lengthened slightly. I tried adding a different section further along as Andy suggested but it looked ridiculous and out of shape. Map makers prerogative has scrapped that idea.

edit: I tried lightening it with the brown tinge but it looked too muddy, and any lighter than the previous version looked entirely too shiny for my liking.

Looks good. I would suggest trying to add some more definition to the edges though, if you get what I mean.

No, it is blurred in an attempt to match the 'sharpness' of the mountains. If a few people think its too much blur I can sharpen it again no problem. This update is more concerned with the colour and length.

Don't know what the fascination with brown is about. As I have shown at least one part of the Great Wall in that period was constructed out of white stone...

HOWEVER - that's a good intermediary colour. I like it. It doesn't look like mud or wood. You can tell the wall is made out of stone.

Grey with brown tinge - excellent!

If the wall is to be broken the broken stone could be highlighted with a lighter grey.

Lost it a while back after much debate. Extended the grey cont to keraits and kalinbaliq instead.

somehow the wall seems out of place compared to the other boundaries and the map altogether. Is it just me or should it be less 3-D?
