- drunkmonkey fended off several players eager to take his money - winning 8 of his 14 Poker games
- despite retiring in the Dust Bowl, dustin800 aggressively took his $60K to the tables and won 6 of 8 to nearly double his wealth.
While both are impressive stories, there can be only one winner in the game of life and - as noted - one's place in the hierarchy holds more water than one's poker prowess. With that, I'm happy to anoint CCU Alumni Drunk Monkey as the first Game of Life winner. Hearty congratulations. Please remain seated while we take a quick look at Mr. Monkey's journey.
Drunk Monkey graduated in the top of his class from Conquer Club University. He went on to start his own business in the City. He took his first spouse on a European Honeymoon, but the marriage didn't last. His second honeymoon was to the Caribbean and was a definite success. The happy couple moved to San Francisco and bought a condo where they raised twins. After touring the United States by train, Drunk Monkey retired and moved his family to the Caribbean - but he wasn't finished yet. He used his experience to become an influential businessman in the Caribbean - building and owning several luxurious resorts.
Many thanks to all who joined and participated. Please feel free to post your own "journey" through life here in the tournament thread. I look forward to reading them.
I hope to bring you 2.0 of this tournament (with some of the kinks worked out and some fun additions) after a short break and those of you who managed to reproduce will get the first invites. Keep an eye out!

TO CHALLENGE A RETIRED PLAYER AT POKER
You must:
- Have at least $20K in your bank account (10 for betting, 10 for living)*
- PM me with the subject line "Poker: RETIREE'S NAME" (i.e. Poker: TheForgivenOne). Please specify which Retiree you are challenging. I won't randomly assign challenges. You may challenge multiple Retirees, if you send me separate PMs.
- In the body of the PM, list your current wealth and level (Marriage, Residence, etc)
When I create the next batch of games, I will send a Poker Club invite to you and the retiree. You will have only one chance to join your game. If you miss the invite, you will need to submit another PM and wait til the next batch to try again. If the retireee misses 2 consecutive invites and does not otherwise notify me of an absence, they will forfeit the game and lose the money.
Once your current Poker game with a Retiree has finished, you may send me another PM challenging that same Retiree.
Remember, Poker Club games are Foggy! Any questions?

PREMISE
As a child, one of my favorite board games was The Game of Life. The premise of a game was to start in school, get married, have children and make your way through the ups and downs of life before retiring. This tournament will follow similar precepts and just as in real life, you're competing with someone each step of the way
Standard/Automatic/Escalating/Unlimited/Sunny*
Premium only please**
64 players will play 32 1v1 games starting at CC University.
32 graduate and try to become a City Mogul. The other 32 drop out and join the military (Citadel map).
From there your path is chosen by the games (mostly 1v1) you win, ending anywhere from Prison to the US Senate and everywhere in between. At the end of the tournament, your Life bio might read:
Lostatlimbo opened a business after college. It went bankrupt, so he returned to school to get his masters, got married & honeymooned in Europe, got divorced, re-married and honeymooned in San Francisco, bought a house in the suburbs, had 2 kids, held a night job as a janitor to support the family and eventually retired to the Midwest after gambling away his minimal savings.
You'll play for a paycheck and if you're good (and fortunate) enough to Retire wealthy, you will take a seat at the Poker Club and accept $10K bets from the regular Workforce (those still playing towards retirement). The player with the most wealth once everyone else is Retired, Dead, or Broke is the winner!
FINE PRINT
*Prison & Poker Club are Foggy
**Because Retirees may need to play more than 4 Poker games per round, Premium members only, please.
Games will be sent by invites. Matchups will be based on when your previous game was finished (by both time & round). For example, the first two players to win on the CC College map will play against each other on CC Mogul. The first two to lose on CC College will play each other on Battle of Iraq. There's a chance you'll play the same person twice as your paths zig zag through life.
Games will be sent by invite. You'll have 48 hours to join & won't receive more than 2 invites per round, unless you notify me in advance of an absence.
If you don't show up for a game, you lose that round. If you miss 2 rounds, you're out of the tournament.
I'll only use reserves in the first couple rounds. After the career round, if a player bails on the tournament, I'll just adjust the matchups accordingly.
