I suppose though it became a world war when war was declared in the east, which would be perhaps America declaring war on Japan at pearl harbour (as china-japan was an undeclared war). The soviets may have declared war on Japan before that, not sure though.
Change Austria to Australia and I guess you are right although technically Great Britain and France had a pact with Poland so they actually were at war at the same time. September 3rd is officially recognised as the beginning of WWII I think.
Hmm...Canada didn't come to help their Anglo friends along with Australia and New Zealand?

Roman army was fairly legit at the time and he did a pretty good number vs them for a while.
Hannibal was indeed a master tactician. I am amazed at some of his wins. Of course he couldn't possible hope to defeat mighty Rome! Scipio was also a great general of that era. He beat Hannibal and Carthage in the end.
Believe it or not Hannibal was born in Malta which at that time was under Carthaginian rule before passing under Roman rule at the end of the second Punic war.
As for top generals and brilliant military victories Hannibal is definitely up there.

Who declared war on who to give official beginning on WWII?
Well the first to declare war was Japan on China in 1936 or 1934 I can't remember, then it was Germany on France.
Not true. Great Britain and France declared war on Germany after it invaded Poland on 3rd September 1939. That's why WWII took place between 1939-45. I think that 1936 was the time of the Spanish civil war.

Yet, Japan did attack China first before anything with Germany took place and it lasted untill the end of the war, so Japan had the first deal with in WW2, England and France and Germany came a few years later.
The war in the Pacific statred like this.
1931-"The Mukden incident" Japan invades Manchuria.
1933-Japan annexes Jehol
July 7 1937- Japan Invades China.

Well it did lead to some uneasy ties with Japan and everyone.
So you are saying that, if Germany attacked Poland before Japan attacked China and then China was attacked then Japan attacking China would be the start of WW2, becuase it was the later of the two fronts?

It still was a facter in the War on both fronts.
I am saying that when Japan attacked China the world didn't care much. Only South East Asia was affected. That was not the start of World War II. That was Japanese Imperialism.
The official start of WWII was when Germany invaded Poland. And if you really want indicators of WWII you can go back to 1870 when the Germans beat the French. The French never forgave them so in WWI when the Allies won France humiliated Germany with unacceptable terms. Those were the seeds of WWII, which led to Nazism, the rise of Hitler, the invasion of Czechoslovakia, the annexation of Austria, etc etc

Yes true, its just taught as September 1939 in Europe as thats when we in Europe entered the world-spanning conflict, much as in certain parts of the US the start used to be taught as Pearl Harbour (I believe that has changed since however)
Wether you think you can, or think you can't - you're right

My AP world history teacher, made us read (for anyone that felt like it) a book, in which the author tryed to prove that WW1 and WW2 were really just one geart big World War with a little cease of action in the middle (1920-1936), so I see what you are saying in the gruge that both sides had for the other. It was a very good book.
hey guys.....i know where the war is going to be and who will be in it. its going to be the U.S. Vs. somewhere in Africa or N. Korea. what do you think?
As for a WW3, nay, I try not to think about a WW3, it would be the end of the world as we know it. If in WW1 and WW2 they were using the best that they could make at the time (ex: Jets, A-bombs) I don't want to think about what they will use in a WW3.

I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

I would just make a side point that the Napoleonic War was the first truly "world war" being fought worldwide on nearly every continental land mass and every ocean.

Just thought I's let you know that Japan - China (Second Sino-Japanese War) was an undeclared war. As for dates, they'd fought since 1931 but it became a full scale war in 1937, when most historians place the beginning of the war as the Battle of Lugou Bridge.

The way I see it is that there won´t be another World War... WWI and WWII were developed in a system in wich there was no limitants and the available weapons were not so destructive. Another world war would mean the use of nuclear bombs and I don´t think any government wants to use them beacuse it would destroy the planet´s climate and situation, and they would destroy enemy and themselves...

So was the 7 years war

That was sort of the whole point of the Cold War. Same if it happened the other way round. Both sides came close to sparking it off.
