I haven't had the chance to play it yet, but to be honest, I didn't even know this map existed unil Early to Mid Febuary this year.

I don't mind it myself, but I reckon it's because most people are unfamiliar with the view of the world from that angle. I was reading something on a cartography website last week, complaining that most maps are from the same perspective, North to south with Europe/Africa in the centre.

This guy, an Aussie had his own idea of a world map, with south at the top, and Greenland next to the Arctic at the bottom. That might be an idea for someone with more map skills than me, say, the classic map inverted, may make us think differently about tactics ;)

A map with the south on the top would be really bottom heavy, which IMO would look worst.

How is top heavy any better?

And i've seen maps like that, even though all the contients are the same, it looks very different to normal maps for the world.

Define normal! It's just not what people are used to. Might as well make a west on top map too!

I got a bad taste for Arctic simply because in a big game, the best player in the group also got fantastic placement.

And in a no-cards game, placement means a lot. I suppose I'd be willing to give it another chance some time.
