Re: Adjacent Attacks
Check this game for an example of what the Adjacent Attacks rule can do to make your game more interesting and entertaining

Right now, yellow has a stack of 85 troops in Realm of Might 1. In a normal game, he could go directly to Barbarians Castle and conque it, because there are very few troops in all those territories. But in AA he has to go step by step, making it more interesting. A set of 1 territories are spliting yellow's troops, something that could not happen in an UA game.

Re: Adjacent Attacks [Last Call ~ TFO]
I love this style of gameplay (I'm the one running the AA tourney). We have had very few issues with the tournament, even from people who are new to the gameplay. It will become much easier to run tournaments and play games once this has been coded into the game engine, but for now it's a very fun alternative. I know more people would try out the gameplay if it was coded, because sometimes it's hard to remember that it is an AA game, since it's an honor-based rule.
In short: let's do this, lack!

I'm having fun with the AA format, not having played AA b4 this is a great gameply & i would definitely support this being coded in the game engine.
Many thanks to jakewilliams & OliverFA for hosting the current AA tourney.

Re: Adjacent Attacks [Last Call ~ TFO]
If this actually gets hard-coded then none of us have to worry about having a sitter break the rules or accidentally double-click, or forget that this game is AA when you click that handy "jump to next playable game" link.
This option works GREAT and we're playing it with honour rules. A number of the best games have ended by a rules breach, so I look forward to seeing how games actually play with the real rules in place.

Re: Adjacent Attacks [Last Call ~ TFO]
I agree, by far my favorite way to play. The best games have been ones where the rules weren't broken, so a hard-coded option will make it awesome!
By the way, I promised CC some money in the "pay to get things changed" thread if AA gets implemented. I'm still down for contributing to the cause.
For a look at a cool AA game that has been going on for months: Game 5586762

Re: Adjacent Attacks [Last Call ~ TFO]
I fully support this being hard coded into the system. I've enjoyed playing this mode of gameplay for years with the Risk 2 computer game's SameTime Risk option. It's been a huge amount of fun to be able to play against others online instead of the computer players.

Yes, it is up to date and the post I point people to for a longer description of AA than what is in my tourney.

Re: Adjacent Attacks [Last Call ~ TFO]
AA provides a great challenge. On many maps it's a wonderful way to play a different type of strategy. On other maps, it is tedious (Hive, Conquer Man). However, it would be tremendous to have the site automatically limit you to AA - trying to limit oneself manually is difficult.

Re: Adjacent Attacks [Last Call ~ TFO]
Adjacent attacks is:
- More strategic: With this rule, players really need to plan their campaign accross the whole map. Is not enough to stack all armies in one place and then conquer all those 1 army territories.
True fronts appear, and what happens in one front is a lot more independent than before (specially with chained and adjacent reinforcements).
Supply lines become important, because armies advance only 1 territory inside the enemy country each turn. A connection needs to be kept in order to receive reinforcements from other fronts or from autodeploy bonuses. Also, encirclement can be performed.
The game I posted a couple of pages ago is a good example of what can be achieved with AA.
- Funny: All this added strategic depth makes the game a lot more fun.
- Easy: The simplified rule that was developed in this thread, is easy to remember (and to implement

Re: Adjacent Attacks [Last Call ~ TFO]
I'd like to invite lack to a private game if he'd like to see how this works on the honor-based rule. There are plenty of regulars here who would be happy to play on the Canada map (or another of his choice). And let's face it, we're going to remember it's AA when we see lackattack in the game
I've played a number of 1v1 AA games against OliverFA, n00blet, and denominator, which were fun. We haven't played a lot of team games yet in the AA format, although there has been some interest. If lack wishes, we can set up some team games to show him that AA works well in a team format as well as individual.

I have a Q about how this works, can you attack more than one place from the same territory if you don't advance your troops?
