Post by RjBeals »

After Italy, I would like to concentrate on a fictional map, that I create.

define the territories and make some links between the so we can make an impression on tactics bonuses borders etc.
so far it looks nice and i have nothing against it.
i'd say gon on and make it.

PS: try to find a theme.

You have my support obviously. I will wait to see a more developed version before making any comments. The draft you have looks promising.

I think it looks a little cluttered. Lots of land mass with out enough watter around it for them to be oceans but to much for them to be rivers. It's like pangea a week after splitting, well more like 20 million years after splitting really.

What scale is this supposed to be? World, countries, cities, small islands in a delta?

I got my inspiration from Marv's Brazil map. I really like how it's very simple. I also like how the background is green ;)

I really didn't put much thought into this yet - I knew I wanted a center island, kinda like artic map. I knew I wanted every continent seperated by water. And I want borders that are 1 black pixel.

My main focus will be to finish italy, but i've been working on that on / off for a few months. Kinda want to dabble in something else.

I was more curious to see how people felt about a non-geographical map - from my own imagination.

I'll work on this slowly & post something when I start to refine it.

at first glance it looks to have horrid playabilty.

you're going to have to connect that cluster of islands together. When you do that with connection routes you're going to have it playing out like Arctic map, but worse.

if you can find a way to make connection routes that don't isolate you or make it near impossibe to hold a bonus it should turn out fine. The way it looks right now seems like it's going to be about eliminating people rather than a territory grab.

2nd Submit - See First Post. No theme besides the dark feel. All fictional land masses.

Andy - Does there have to be 2 versions of each map, Large & Small?

When choosing names and such, make sure to go with a theme. Perhaps all countries in one area had all 'hard sounds', and others in a different island scheme has 'soft sounds'. Then it would seem less like you randomly assigned countries. Also consider frequency of letters (alike or different) when placing them, and length.

Can we add the Human race instead of the Dark Elves for example as there is already an Elf race?

I agree with Ruben on that one, and perhaps some switching of locations could be done. It'd be amusing to have the human surrounded by all the creature baddies.

i agree there should be humans (in the center) but don't take out dark elves. instead take out the dragons tribe and make it so that each continent coud have a dragon cave that connects to the other dragon caves. something like the naval bases in the philipines map. plus owning all dragon caves brings you an additional troop bonus.

Molacole - I take it you feel there are too many sea attack routes? If so, let me know which ones to remove and I'll do it.
