the only thing I can think of (and I'm terrible at hockey history) is that it might be the guy that they named the Vezina trophy for...

the only old-timey goalie I can think of off the top of my head is Frank McCool (and I have no idea who he played for)... so that's my (bad) guess.

as far as deadline deals, the ducks did okay. I wouldn't have minded landing forsberg, of course.... even bertuzzi would've been okay. :D Doesn't matter, tho. The Ducks are badass enough.

Terry Sawchuk had 103 shutouts in his career with Detroit, Boston, Toronto, L.A. and NYR.

DIRE, I'll give it to you... if I post another, it'll be hockey again, so you're up.

Yup. My favorite player, until he blew his arm out trying to win the 2002 Series. Damn Felix Rodriguez.

Edit: Are you a Giants fan too?

Yes he was. He also had the most intense scoreboard display when he came out to pitch in Pac-Bell

not a Giants fan, but I figured you'd ask a question about one of them! Here's another baseball question, this one involving my favorite team the Houston Astros:
Who did the Astros trade to the Boston Red Sox for then farm prospect and 3rd basemen (and future Hall of Famer) Jeff Bagwell?
