Favorite Rock Song?
So, I was thinking about what my favorite rock song is. Yes, I think of these things while reviewing memos and letters and the like. Anyway, my top 3 favorite bands are Tool, Led Zeppelin, and Pearl Jam. However, I can't think of one Tool song I like above all others. I obviously love Stairway to Heaven. And I really love Yellow Ledbetter.
However, I'm going with The Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil."

Re: Favorite Rock Song?
Can I just put AC/DC? As it is rather hard for me to pick just one from them.
"Eh, whatever."

I like Aenema the best I think. But Sympathy for the Devil is better.

Damn, that is good.
On AC/DC, I'd put "You Shook Me All Night Long" as a top 3 best rock songs ever.

I feel like whenever I get a favorite song, I listen to it enough to get sick of it, and then it's not my favorite any more. I enjoy variety.

Wow...that's a difficult one. I guess if I had to pick one, I'd go with "One Toy Soldier" by Coven.

As a single representation of musical art in the rock genre....I would choose....Bohemian Rhapsody. It's like when they made it, they knew that was an epic piece.

Re: Favorite Rock Song?
Neil Young's Powderfinger followed closely by AC/DC's Thunderstruck.

Re: Favorite Rock Song?
Whatthefuck?
"Imagine", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "One Tin Soldier" and "Dear Prudence" are NOT Rock'n Roll. Period. These are "Pop" songs.
"Sympathy for the Devil" and "Inagaddadavida" are two of the greats. I would also add "Time" by the Chambers Brothers, "Purple Haze" by Hendrix, "Sunshine of Your Love" and "Crossroads" by "Cream" and "Suzy Q" by Credence.

You mean "One Tin Soldier"? (aka " The Legend of Billy Jack")
DOH! Indeed, I do. Good catch.

I actually thought the same thing for a second when I first read the "Imagine" answer...
But, the question is not "Best Rock'n Roll" but best "Rock" song. In my opinion, the term "Rock" envelops a wide range of music that stemmed from Rock'n Roll and Rock'n Roll artists. I think many people would consider some of the songs you listed as "Soft Rock". Some of the songs you listed (as your picks) could definitely be argued to also not be "Rock'n Roll" songs...they are definitely Rock songs.
I just watched some old Thorogood....honourable mention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn2El8kskhk
I'm gonna throw in a vote for The Who, Baba O' Riley: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9CWJa9yK7I
This is a newer song that I think will stand the test of time...Against Me, Thrash Unreal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EovHN5I5Nls
Hey, quick edit....if you aren't familiar with this Against Me song...this video is better...less distracting.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MZRDIh9X0I

Re: Favorite Rock Song?
Too many. A lot of the greats have already been mentioned here. A couple, off the top of my head, that I would add to this thread are Hysteria by Muse (who are one of the greatest live bands ever), and Do The Evolution by Pearl Jam (which has one of the best videos of all time).
