Personally I think Europe is the hardest continent to hold. Even Asia is easier to hold (if you have ukraine) Europe has 4 entrance "spots", Asia has 3 (if you have ukraine), NA has 3, SA 2 and Africa is hard to hold with 4 "spots" of course Oceania has 1.

I only go for europe or africa at the start of the game if its my only realistic option.

You have a link on the left called 'Join Games'

It will take you to a page where other people have set up some games. Check out the game type you're looking for and if there is an open space in that game you can join.

The game will only start when the required amount of players have joined.

Well, to all of you who are new to this site: Join a game in which any of us Bushwackers are playing!

We love to play new players since we always have a good time handing out advice and helping newbies out. We usually also try to take it easy so the game lasts longer for the new guys. Even if one may be somewhat hesitant to join a game with high ranking players (I know I felt that in the beginning) - don't worry about win or loose during the first games and points. Loosing a few in the beginning just makes it easier to raise it later on. Welcome our precious privates... [Insert mad laughter here]

Deadbeating

Post by Killakazooma »

Please don't enter a game unless you intend to play it. I have not played many games so far but every game i have played has been ruined by deadbeaters that hold up the game and destroy the worth of it in my opinion. I intend to never have to deadbeat a game, i would never like to ruin it for anybody else.

It also seems to me that the majority of people on this great site treat every game as serious fun and get irritated when this sort of thing happens, so i am not alone.

Please have the courtesy to play your turn.

i would like to play anybody who would like to have a game without any deadbeaters and i do not care what level you are, it would be refreshing, simply pm me and we can set up a game for however many.

I think Pedro would appreciate the following word of wisdom:

If you're new to this site, discuss your sex life [lack of or if you have pictures] in chat. You'll be instantly popular.

Send your pictures to me and I'll grade them for mass appeal.

If you're new to this site....

Avoid older men that mention sex, pictures, and grading in the same post.

This is generally good advice for any website really.

kingwaffles wrote:I think the most important advice to be given is to have fun and don't get hung up on broken truces or rank or silly things like that. Just enjoy yourself and always take South America :D

Excellent advice in the first post of this thread, all the way up till the part where he says take south america. Just ignore that last little tid bit.

New players understand that score is ok indicator of skill but has many flaws. Also remember what I quoted above, if you aren't having fun then you are wasting your time. On top of that though, you will find that this site has a lot to offer. I write for the newspaper and run a school on this site, and I am just a casual member. It really has morphed into a community.

There are a lot of things to do here, join clans, make maps, teach noobs, play team games, etc, etc. Don't be afraid to try new things, have fun. Try different game types, different maps, and then after a while take on some kind of community role; if you have time. Writing for the paper is fun for me, but you can make tournaments, become a mod, start a user group, there are tons of things that can be fun here.

Be nice to people too. You may end up being around for a while and end up doing something together with people who at first may have turned you off.

Finally, don't forget, have fun.

When you play escalating, ignore bonuses and don't attack other peoples' stacks for no reason (which can get you foed easily).

This should be pm:d to all new recruits who play escalating...

Don't be worried about being "foed" by anyone, especially over-ranked cry-babies like the infant who posted above me.

Nope, being "foed" is like receiving a medal.

...wait a second, a "foe medal' would be a great medal!

Well it kinda depends who you get foed by. Sure, if you get foed by ignorant cunts who neither understand anything about the game or real world and post crap on the forums because they are such antisocial twats who live in their mother's basement, who they can't make any friends in real life because they are such dorks, then yes, I'd consider that foeing to be like a medal.

FANTASTIC POST GENERAL!!! Insight at it's best and truth at it's finest.

GREAT IDEA for the FOE medal too!!!!

For the noobs on this site. The best advice is NOT to attack if you are not rolling 3 dice unless it's critical to do so or your dice are pure gold AND do not miss turns.
This post was made by jefjef who should be on your ignore list.

Don't play like a pussy!
This is WAR baby...Look for new Strategies (loopholes).

When involved in an alliance...try to be the first one to break it.
Take everything you know about Risk, throw it out!
This is a game that should not be taken seriously (to an alarmingly grave extent), many people do.
You should be seriousminded (seriousness of intention, purpose, thought, etc.) while playing the game.

Some players have a low tolerance for newbies.
When You find somebody that is talkative (while in a game), take advantage...learn, ask questions.
The forums are helpful too.
Trial and error will play a big role in your development.

Collect as many Electric Green stars as you can. Those give you the best in-game power-ups.
