One would assume any parent who has raised a child to military age would care enough for said child to choose life over accepting their child as a homosexual. However, this particular individual seems to feel otherwise:
Jackass wrote:Today, if my son was going into the military, I would be more concerned about him coming home a gay person than worrying about him getting wounded or killed in battle.
We are becoming a pathetic nation with no clear moral values.
Quite ironic that those two sentences were quoted of the same person...
Figured I would see if anyone happens to agree with this individual. If so, I would like to extend a great big f*ck you in your direction.

I'm confused as to why a parent would be concerned about their child coming back home from a military deployment as gay...what was the context of the discussion that would lead to such a statement?
...I prefer a man who will burn the flag and then wrap himself in the Constitution to a man who will burn the Constitution and then wrap himself in the flag.

Why are you asking us and not that particular individual?
Because I would honestly like to speak with someone who has this mentality. Well... perhaps "speak with" isn't the correct term, but we'll keep it somewhat PG in here.
Is choosing "I would prefer my child to come home from service not in a wooden box" really that much harder than "I would prefer my child to come home with a different sexual preference"?

Check out the source material.
Ah, I completely overlooked the link. That really is a stupid individual, that's all I can say. And they clearly don't have the first understanding of what "don't ask don't tell" is all about, either.

I'm sorry. Is killing people not a sin? Is that not one of the blatantly written commandments? Or do those members of the military in combat roles not do so?
Oh... that's right. Sexual preference is definitely worse than taking someone's life.
It is not a sin to fight to protect your country and family.
It is sinful to suggest otherwise however.

If homosexual, the same result.
Even expressing concern of some sexual transformation when sending your child to war seems a little on the insane side.
Well, if you read the article, THEY'LL BE HAVING SEX IN THE BARRACKS ALL NIGHT LONG or some shit like that. So yeah...I'm not sure that sanity was a strong suit of the letter-writer.

I'm sorry, I misread this. What sin are you referring to?
And, is homosexually not opposed as a sin?
It is. But to die in that sin is worse than living with it. (and living with it can lead to repentance from sin, if you're dead, it's too late to repent)

This was stated after I had misread his post, assuming he was stating that the individual is actually better off dead than a homosexual. You can accuse me of sin, but that is meaningless in my eyes. I do not abide by the morals of a book written 2,000 years ago.
If you're genetically predisposed to homosexuality or bisexuality, it's really no big deal AT ALL if you participate in homosexuality or bisexuality. The rational for religious texts: Orthodox Torah, Catholic Bible, etc preaching vehemently that it is for lack of a better word a sin is because to partipate in homosexuality or bisexuality if you're not genetically predisposed to it is just straight up dangerous. A person forced or coerced or whatever into this type of situation (Unless it's because they're just totally pussied out which is very rare) is probably going to suffer from some sort of psychosis for the rest of his life and one of the many many many dangers of psychosis is the unpredictable nature of it. Basically, you rais children that homosexuality or bisexuality is a sin or immoral and if despite all that, they say or think to themselves something along the lines of, "If what I'm thinking is wrong than I don't want to be right." Well then that person is meant to be gay and to deprive them of that right or chastise them for it is also immoral.
Again these are just elaborate sound bites to topics and issues that deserve essays to put into their proper perspective. Also, you'll notice I was just commenting on male homosexuality or bisexuality. XY. XX is an entirely differant topic. Anyway I need that check. I've earned it and have it coming to me for so many reasons, I can't even count. Again, it would take essays to put it into it's proper perspective and you'd kind of get but you still wouldn't quite be able to fathom it.
This poll and topic is different than what they actually wrote. They said they'd be more concerned about their kid becoming gay, meaning there's probably a much bigger chance (in their opinion) of it happening, as opposed to the slim chance of being wounded or dead. It doesn't mean they'd prefer a dead son over a gay one. You should have read it more carefully before going on your soapbox.

Fine, ill just accuse you of being an unpatriotic coward who called people asked by their country to kill to protect them as murderers then. And the sinful I mentioned has nothing to do with religion.
But dont worry those brave men and women that fight to protect your life and liberty need no thanks from cowards, and the certainly are not concerned about what they think.

Seems like he misunderstood quite a few things while reading on this one.

Hey, we're not selectively picking out parts from our old text to hate on people. lucy didn't call soldiers murderers, because that would mean he gave a flying f*ck about these "sins".
If I point out that jay and others like him aren't stoning people for wearing different fabrics or working on a sabath it doesn't mean I'm advocating that those are reprehensible sins and we should get back to doing that.
"Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill."
Duane: You know what they say about love and war. Tim: Yes, one involves a lot of physical and psychological pain, and the other one's war.

Well he may or may not care about the sin of murderer, but theres no question he is calling those who kill in the military murderers with the statement he made.
He did later change it because he completely misunderstood what Jay was saying...which was really nothing....but theres no question he calls people in the military who kill as murderers.
It may be that he is merely saying that in the eyes of the God he doesnt believe in that its murder, but thats still just as bad, because obviously many people in the service very much believe in God, and protect their country in his name.
No doubt some are murderers also, but to brand all those who kill as sinners and murderers in the military was just the stupidest thing Ive read in quite a while, and Im glad I was able to quote it before he deleted his true thoughts on the subject.
