Re: TLO 2009 II [Final Round]
----
The window for nominating players for the title MVP (Most Valuable Player) has expired.
Below you'll find a (short) list of nominees and the reason(s) they were nominated.
Since I do not want to add a poll to this thread, but would like a certain anonymity in the voting process, I am going to ask the Team Captains the following:
Please collect the votes of your team and send them to me by pm. I will give a breakdown of the total votes after everybody has voted. I will not accept "loose" votes by single players, nor votes that are posted in this thread. Please send your votes to your Team Captain.
Voting deadline: March 20, 2010.
Thanks all,
Lx

Nominees
I received nominations for 8 players. Of those, 2 of the players did not participate in every round of the tournament. I was also 1 of the nominated players, and although I am flattered, I will not put myself up for the vote. That leaves the following 5 players (in no particular order):
- dtellis ---- (Generation One III)
- Pedronicus ---- (Hot TOFU with Pedro Sauce)
- Shatners Bassoon ---- (Hot TOFU with Pedro Sauce)
- vintender ---- (A Fistful of Sixes)
- Chariot of Fire ---- (Hot TOFU with Pedro Sauce)
I was given the following reasons for the nominations(some are slightly condensed):
dtellis:
"He is the player who always agrees to take the "crappy" maps (those who others don't like), he is a very strong player who always suggests plans and strategies in games and I think he should have quite high winning percentage. He is a perfect person to have in a team."
----
Pedronicus:
"Because of his outstanding record, of course."
----
Shatners Bassoon:
"For his leadership abilities."
----
vintender:
"I would like to nominate our Team Captain for MVP. By week 4 we had amassed a woeful record of 1-3. vintender noticed team playing styles were not compatible with some of the players and recruited and replaced 4 of the 6 players. Since week 4 our team has a record of 9-3 and have accumulated as of week 15 the 4th highest point total. Not to bad considering where we were in week 4. So there you have it: vintender was definitely our MVP and should be considered one of the tournament."
----
Chariot of Fire:
"Because he is awesome. He played most of the hard games, took leadership in the turning games. Also, he peeked in all of the other's team games and gave advices when it was not foggy. He covered all our misses and made a great job keeping this together. I don't know any other player that devotes himself more to the CC and his mates than him."
"A leader amongst leaders, a player with no equal in my long cc experience."
"He has been an exceptional leader in team games, several of which were likely won solely due to his judgment. His high win % is obviously a great factor as his communication and encouragement in EVERY TLO game I've been in with him. Many other players know him and there is a great deal of mutual respect. I could go on but I think he is the hands down winner of this award."
"He is the quintessential leader and brings the best out of everyone that plays with him. I can go into more detail if you like, but I am sure you are already aware of how great a teammate and player he is."
If anybody has any complaints about this, pm Pedro. He proposed this because none of his team mates nominated him for the MVP title.
What a bunch of Shitbags my team turned out to be.

Re: TLO 2009 II [Final Round] MVP decided
Thank you guys for the kind words (and to those who took the trouble to vote - appreciated).
Let me say for the record though that if a medal was deserving then it should go to Lindax who has orchestrated what is easily the premier tournament of its kind on CC - it surpasses the CLA in terms of length, games played, variety and organisation (updates) and yet has all been administered by just one man. He's a legend in my eyes - and he's prepared to do it all again it seems. Bravo Rob
As for my own accomplishments.....well, I ducked every singles game whenever I could, so the greatest proportion by far of all my games involved the best team mates a person could hope to have. I'm really only as good as the sum of my parts, and in this case I had five colleagues who made our team what it was (and all the while putting up with my crap). And when one reads the comments they made re the MVP it just shows you what a class act these fellas are. They may have been all for one, but this one's for all of them.
Sincere thanks guys.

Round 16 is finished, results, scores and standings updated.

I know we all know which team is winning this tournament, however there are still teams fighting for their final positions. So, to keep it a little bit exciting I will not post the final standings until all round 17 games have finished (which is only 12 games).

I would just like to echo CoF's sentiments in saying what a fantastic job you have done here Rob....win,loose or draw this has been the best tourney on CC over the last 12 months by far
And i would also like to say that CoF's mvp award is more than deserved...his dedication and tactical nuance are second to none.....well done mate...it's always a pleasure
