Re: 5 rolls button (or 10)

Auto-Assault Limits is on the To-Do list, and I think would cover this...

I'd be very keen to see some kind of limited auto attack. My personal preference would be to just have a '10' option (ie no need for 5 army attacks) as a nice intermediate between singles and the current all-or-nothing auto attack, which I'm sometimes reluctant to use.

There is a third alternative. Replace the "Auto Attack" button with a drop down list to specify the number of times to attack. The default number would be 1 which would be set when a territory to attack is selected. The max would be 99 which is the same as "to the death". To prevent culture shock (and the inevitable onslaught of complaints) you could leave the "auto attack" button in place.

Speaking for myself I would prefer the method proposed by Cicero. A drop down list would specify to auto attack until I win or I have x number of troops remaining.

If you right-click on the terit you're attacking, you'll get a window asking for a minimum # of armies you'd like to have left.

Since I don't want to clutter the interface, what about getting rid of the Auto-Attack button and instead having optional checkboxes below the attack button:

Auto-Attack [] x5 [] x10 [] until 3 attackers

I like this, but there are certain game types where it would also be great to have the option to attack until the defender is down to 2 also. Please incorporate limits for attacker and defender. I have posted this in every topic I've found on auto limits, limits on how many you want to get the defender down to would be great too. I can explain reasoning if its not clear.

Alright this is getting even more confusing... mine just autos when I do that, and I'm almost 100% sure that I have the most recent version of clickies (v3.3). I've checked all the options too, and I don't see any that would enable it... :?

Hmmm, well, I have a mac, so I don't technically have a right-click, I use control-click (which I always assumed was equivalent to a right click, tho of course I could be mistaken). Then again, clickies can be a bit wonky sometimes.

How did something like this land on the to-do list? If the game is not speed there is no reason to rush is there? So why implement this?

BobHacket wrote:I don't like the idea of the multiple attacks being correlated with the auto-attack, in case of an accident or computer lagging and me multiple clicking (as happens freaquently with me). I'd rather have it like this

[Attack] []5 rolls [] 10 rolls [Full-Attack]

or something like this so that the 5 and 10 rolls work with clicking the "Attack" button instead of the Auto, or full attack button, that way if there is a mess up with anything you have just a single attack instead of a full blown attack.

This seems to be the best idea. It puts the damage of a mistake at the ultimate minimum and, if you choose not to use the extra rolls, it requires no extra clicks to continue on as normal.

In other words, this configuration does not make taking a turn any slower or any more dangerous. Perfect.

This idea seems to have been forgotten, this is an old thread. Luckily someone bumped it. It would be good if we could get this discussion going again.

mine does too slow - i really like this idea, you defo don't get it on my clicks. Incan is showing off with his mac.
I'd really like this idea with max (min) offense / defense loss.

What about radio buttons instead of checkboxes? Since you could only select one of the auto-assault buttons, I think that could take up less lines of code and prevent from people accidentally getting frustrated and clicking two check boxes and having an error popup.

Well I just had this idea and decided to actually USE SEARCH AND BUMP AN OLD TOPIC instead of starting a new one... :o :o

Basically this would give you a chance to recover after horrible auto-attack dice, without using a drop box, and still be flexible and work for 50, 500, even 5000 armies with one button. Implement this! How hard can it be?

Drop down box for auto assault

Post by jmyork82 »

Description:
-A drop down box next to auto assault

Specifics:
-The drop down box next to auto assault would specify at what point in time you want the auto assault to end instead of at 3

This would improve game play in several startegic aspects. This would make it easier on people in games with large amounts of stacked troops. You could be more specific with troop movement and coordinate a more intricate attack pattern. For example, think of the Hive map. If you have 1000 in a honey storage cell and all other players have 500 in all other storage cells, you want to use your 1000 to attack a large number that is bordering your honey storage cell. You can specify, (in worst case scenerio) i want my auto assault to stop at 500 regardless of outcome. this would prevent an over attack.

Let me know what you think

Auto Roll Stop Loss

Post by Phatscotty »

Concise description:

A new window next to the auto roll option

Specifics/Details:
you can enter or choose an army count that you wish to stop auto rolling at
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
When in larger games (850 vs 800, 5,550 vs 3,846) it would be awesome if we could auto-roll 100 at a time, or 50 at a time, to see how the dice pan out, rather than all the way down to 2 or 3. This would also speed up those huge stacking games where a majority of people end up deadbeating out of boredom for 500 rounds.

I like the option. Something like "Auto Assault until (number filled in by player) of my armies are left" would be good.

there's 3 possibilities though...
a) you can enter how many attacks you want to make, no matter how they go,
b) you can enter how many troops you'd like to keep, no matter how many you kill,
c) you can enter how many troops you'd like to kill, no matter how many you lose

Only way to satisfy everyone is by making it all possible, but that's way too much possibilities in my opinion...
