the difference with this, is QH knows and understands what you are serving and what the invite means. She has been invited to dinner hundreds of times before and this isnt her 5th dinner that she was ever invited too and simply dint just click "accept" to the PM cleared from her screen.

To an experienced player as myself or QH, we would look at the "view game" first to see what it is. To a player with 5 completed games and just coming off new recruit status they are most likely just to click the 1st option given "accept game" and see what happens. And im sure in almost every case, that was the very 1st PM that that player received on this site and was probably confused with what they saw. Now throw in the factor on baiting 11 year old kids with this abuse and you can clearly see the method that was used hundred of times just to gain points. The players were carefully selected by David in who he was inviting. Players that are new and have no idea what freestyle is and on a map they had no idea how to even attack. In most of the cases, the players complained as soon as the game started and almost nobody has been back to play david even after claiming to have helped a couple players after he collected his points. Keeping in mind, a couple players is less than 1% of who he abused.

I have recently shown several CC players EXACTLY what it looks like when I develop games with people(>95% of the time). You are ALL welcome to pick a weekend (not next Sat) and I'll open a PM and show ALL exactly what happens.

Those I showed agreed there was nothing sinister about it. And MANY just say sure, play and go away. OR thank me for game, and some thank for advice.

I do NOT ALWAY (and rarely since prior thread) promise to show people things BEFORE the game. Anyone that doesn't understand CHANGSTA's perspective on that has no common sense.

I DO NOT always pic Waterloo. I've used several other maps, but lately they seem do DROP OPPONENTS bonuses or MOST of big bonuses. THat is a HUGE reason why I prefer Waterloo.

Will you stop challenging people to arms race games were you obviously have the advantage and no not because you are so good at the game but because he has double your score so you're going to win points even if he wins 75% of the time.

Well, after reading all that (including all the bullshit posts scattered everywhere), I feel the need to weigh in my opinions. Likely, they're as useless as everyone else's here, but it's a free forum. I'm going to avoid going into the allegations against JR here as this is about DH, not JR.

While I certainly don't agree with the tactics he employs, I can see the allure of it. Most of the game we play here on CC is luck, not only in the dice or the drop, but in who you play. You can be the best 8-player escalating player on the site, but it's all for nought if someone throws the game to another player (whether by accident or not). The only way to guarantee success is to minimize the variables that you can - in the dice, in the drop (map), or the players you play.

With the rules currently the way they are, nothing DH is doing is illegal. I think it's unsporting and in poor taste, but it's his shtick and his game and he can play it however he damn well pleases. However, CC went ahead and threw in their nice little clause:

Obviously any gross abuse of the game is forbidden. This includes but is not limited to: throwing games or deliberately benefiting from thrown games, intentional deadbeating, holding players hostage, serial teammate killing, hijacking accounts, systematically "farming" new recruits.

I bolded the important part. This means that even though every single rule isn't written out, they still have the ability to deem something gross abuse. So now the question comes down to whether or not this falls under "gross abuse of the game" or not.

Obviously, *netham*'s posts are irrelevant. I do not know who his multis were, or if any of them played DH, or if DH was one of them (I assume he was not as he was not banned along with *netham*). Which leaves Frankly, My Dear as the only player whom DH played in this fashion to post in the thread. It surprises me to note that FMD supports DH through this after reading the game chat, which leads me to believe that perhaps DH is indeed helping the new players he defeats.

Whether DH accepts to play any of these players on a different map is irrelevant, he has every right to decline a game if he so chooses, just the same as any of the players he has beat had the right to decline the game he sent them. Using the PMs in this manner is, for lack of a better word, dirty, but alas, the way the PM is currently worded works against newer players. Again, most everything DH has been doing here is in poor taste and sportsmanship, but is still within the rules.

The key issue to me comes down to whether or not DH actually has been helping players after the game. While I see both sides of the argument - DH prefers to offer help after the game so he doesn't lose, should he offer it during the game so players can learn better - does this aid actually ever arrive? Through all 9 pages I have only read that DH offers to give help, or that he has helped, but nowhere does this actual evidence show up. Whether he refers them to SoCs or not is again irrelevant. While SoC is a useful tool, it is a tool, not an end-all fix for poor players. There is no doubt that learning from DH would be very beneficial to any player.

So I ask DH or Frankly, My Dear, to come forward with these alleged PMs where DH has helped the player learn. I read somewhere (I think it's in the chat log that Frankly posted) that DH would prefer to scatter his teachings over 3 separate channels - Chat Log, PM, and Live Chat - so that "other players can't get the information so easily". Again, I question the friendliness of his aid, but again, there is nothing clearly against the rules about this.

If DH has, in fact, been helping players grow after the game, then there is no issue here. Sure, he has played very low ranked players and beat them, but in doing so he has helped them get better at the game and grow into better players themselves. However, if that aid never arrived, then there is a major issue here. That would mean that DH has been playing players under false pretences to defeat players but never actually helping them.

Great post...and on a more philosophical note:

1. He has the right to play whomever he likes assuming they have got a rank.
2. He has the right to send a pm to any player with an offer for a game (again assuming they have got a rank).
3. He has the right to choose players he is certain he can beat (again assuming they have got a rank).

One may question it ethically, one may even make a value judgement about it, but I simply can't see how playing within the rules is a gross abuse of the game. Now maybe this should be something of a test case, maybe from this example the rules should change (though personally I don't think they should) but as it stands David must be entirely safe of censure. If you haven't broken a rule then there is simply no gross abuse.

I make this post to concentrate hunter minds. After the feudal screw ups (which more than suggested a less than perfect understanding of the rules) I think it pertinent to make this point as clear and straightforward as it can be.
