Faster speedgames
Specifics:
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
Im sure someone already did this suggestion but Im not going to search in 200 pages of suggestions.
- make an option so you can chose from 2-5 minutes how long your speedgame is.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
- players who love playing FS speed would love this because they don't have to wait 4 minutes and renew there premium
- I wouldnt play hours for a few speedgames

Re: Faster speedgames
Two minutes and thirty seconds seems reasonable to me, if it were possible to make a restriction to prevent people to have more than two games of this speed active.

Re: Faster speedgames
if you have clickies, this speeds the game up, if you dont, 5 minutes is what you need just to excecute your orders...

Then if you don't think you'd have enough time, don't play in the shorter speed games

Exactly, it would just be another option. If you don't use Clickable Maps then don't make the games.

Re: Faster speedgames
Even if you didn't have clickable maps, if your playing a 1v1 game on a lot of maps, you really only need a minute or so... and in larger games/larger maps, you could always just use the 5 minute option... I think a faster speed game would be a good option

I know that I would love it... I like playing 1v1 speed games and hate it when people take 4 min 30 seconds each turn, just to attack one territory and reinforce two

Only for the biggest maps on unlimited do you need 5 minutes. before clickies, I could use the dropdowns and complete the move in almost exactly 5 min, with every fort made...but it did take nearly every second of that time.
on freestyle speed it didnt matter, because you had to wait for the other guy anyways...so you hardly ever had a full five minutes...unless of course he was nice enough to go.
at some point though, we will all have clickies I bet....as some of even the lesser sites do....cough....and then 2.5 maps will be fair as they can be.
I would love to see shorter games though, it would make speed games what they really are supposed to be. The reason the speed games take so long now, is that 5 min is so long, that people play more than one at a time, just to use the time efficiently. with quick games, most would be able to focus on the one game, and then all games would go faster, because people wouldnt get bored in the 5 min time span, and would actually play quick turns.
the games might need a double start button or a ready button though. As it is now, it takes a few seconds to get to the game. Might be nice to have a ready button, so that everyone is at the game at the same time....missing 20 sec on a 5 min game isnt much, but on a 2.5 min game...its a solid percentage
I'm Spanking Monkey now....err...I mean I'm a Spanking Monkey now...that shoots milk
Too much. I know.
Too much. I know.

You could always just play manual deployment... or get to your games faster
Re: Faster speedgames
at the end of a speedgame i tend to find that 5 min is just enough to finish the turn. What i would like to suggest is that each turn has a 5 min limit as it does now, but only 2 min to start a turn. That would speed up a game dramatically and nobody needs more than 2 min to press play.

Re: Faster speedgames
please don't make it an extra option. with all those extra options, I feel it is getting harder and harder to set up a proper speedgame.
if there are both 5 and 2.5 minute speedgames, some people wouldn't play both and less games would be joined
I would love to get 2.5 minutes per round. It would be less waiting for me as a quick player. there are few times when I need to take more than 150 territories in one round

Bumping this to wave some cash in the air. How much would it cost me to get AA rules implemented?

On a serious note, Get more support in here, and it will sooner or later, hopefully sooner, be implemented

AoN, this forum is getting a major uplift. IT just got Volunteer Moderators, so it should be running a lot smoother in the days/weeks to come.

it might run smoother but that doesn't necessarily mean it will grow faster.

im sorry man, I really dont mean to be negative here. If you take 30-50 mins on this little section of the forum alone, you will see literally 100+ ideas that paying customers want and ideas that would also help generate new revenue.
It gets frustrating to see so many Ideas go to waste, I really try not to even come to this section any more.
I understand the op's frustration though... and im serious, I would pony up some money and hire my own friends who are crackerjack coders jsut for a few key changes...
anyway
peace cheers.

AoN, i have seen great idea's come and go too, but that was in my eyes. In your POV an idea may be fantastic, but to others, it may not. If you really really liked an idea, you could go search for it, and bring it up again. I did that, and got a script done for it by ChipV. We are trying to focus what is on page 1 of Suggs. IF you could bring these back to our attention, we'd be more than willing to take a look
