What exactly do you mean? Should I set about abandoning what I've done and do something completely new or different... or?

He means if you're going to create another Pelopennesian War map, its got to be totally different gameplay though you might get into trouble because people will say the history and setting is the same and that therefore you shouldn't make a new map. I think you should. I think if you do it right this map will be worth it and also uniquely different.

To further clarify what I meant, go look at the Third Crusade map thread and follow the discussion going on there. What Kab ended up doing is having 8 starting points which start at 6 each and then most of the map open to random deployment. I think it worked out well and could work out well for your new map.

And you labeled it in Photobucket?

I am really sorry for deleting the poll, Last time I checked it it was:
0 - "Revamp with Qwert's permission"
20 - "Make a new one to live along existing"
14 - "Don't make a new map"

I'd like to see a bit more on the reasons people don't want me to make a map.

This is one of my favorit maps.Tell you the truth I don't realy care if it's acurate or not from a historical point of view.
But If you what to do another map , be my gues. But I'm staing with the old one ;)

I'm not too sure that simply tweaking the existing map to make it historically accurate is going to be enough. Perhaps you could choose a single battle/siege to represent, rather than producing another map of whole campaign?

I didn't say that tweaking historical accuracy=grounds for a new map. ;)

Well I guess the people have spoken... I'll walk away from it as you people seem to be happy with what is there. Sorry I didn't produce enough to convince you otherwise. Seeing as how there was more support in my previous poll I thought it would go the other way. But unless there is a change in heart or more people visit and vote I guess there is not enough support for me to continue.

I really wish I could have added more to the map, but I know how things are around here, you need not make minor changes, as the temperament around the foundry is supportive of the original creators vision. Had I come around a year ago I could have suggested it then I guess. I just didn't visit the forums much last year.

It's most surprising how different this poll went than the last one.

Polls in the Foundry are, hm, often worthless. Not always, sometimes there is legitimate feedback, but the really the best way to gauge support is from posts to a topic, since those people care enough either one way or the other.

However, I think you seem to have ample to knowledge to create a unique vision for a map, either larger in geographic focus than the current Pelo. War map, or perhaps in a smaller geographic scale.

Best of luck for whatever you do.

Well seeing as how I've made more comments than everybody else combined and those who did share didn't really say anything beyond "we have this map already" I am a bit down. I will take it on the chin though.

Ya the second option was a quick job that botched the feeling I wanted. I keep looking at it with disgust for how bad it looks. I can only feel that its poor presentation is what sealed it's fate. However I might take a week and think it over once more and see if my core feeling about condensing the war more to the Pelo region might open up the battle more. If I drop the map in closer I can add more regions (maybe have each proper region into 2/3 depending on size and have 2-3 mini maps such as Corcyra, Mytilene and Melos. I just need to organize it better so people can get what/where I am coming from.

Then again, maybe people just don't like another map with one starting point, and would rather a random/selective deployment all over the map.

As you can see my mind is not on abandonment yet, but I know its an uphill battle.

Option 3 - I could just make a map of Athen's failed attempt to take Sicily. not sure how to make it 8 players but I could work something out.

Option 4 - a new map idea that occurred to me two nights ago as I was trying to fall asleep. It's linear but tactical. Barring getting a job this week I'll draw up a draft.

Due to the nature of things, qwert holds copyright on his idea. As such, you'll need his permission to revamp and/or make a map on the exact same topic. And considering that he won't make a few minor changes requiring the map to get out of Beta, it might be difficult.
