Can't we still use this? Someone else could just take over, and finish it up. It looks like it' s pretty far along.

If somebody were to contact the original mapmaker and get his blessing, sure you can use it.

So you have to get the mapmaker's permission?

Yeah, I really dug that guy's map, but it was abandoned. Holding Madagascar was going to give you like 4 guys! That was wacky, I didn't quite get that little nuance, now it looks like he took out receiving any armies at all for holding Madagascar. Too bad. That map had real potential.

Right, so, returning to the original post...

This page: http://www.scotese.com/newpage8.htm has a map of Pangea with some land features (deserts, mountains, etc.) shown. That could help you in dividing territories. However, it might ultimately easier to just apply modern names to the regions, as was done in Pangea Ultima.

Another thought: have you considered doing each of the labeled regions as subconinents, with Laurasia and Gondwana as supercontinents?

Wait... isn't this just based off the same image as all the other Pangaea maps? And are those territs or continents? There better not only be five territories... [-X

Well, the others were based off what it really looked like, so yes. Oh, and those are continents. I will not be limiting this to 5 player games. :P

They are actually bits and pieces off the other continents. If anyone finds it necessary to cut some chunks up for them, then I will. But it will mean less territories in each continent, and I will have to struggle for space in the small map.

By the way, I am not done with the land. I am going to make it look a lot more realistic.

I agree with MrBenn, you should finish The Bering Strait map before starting a new one. The Bering Strait will look pretty cool if you do complete it.

I saw a really nice looking Pangea map last year(viewtopic.php?f=63&t=50421&p=1351338&hilit=+Pangea#p1351338). I'd recommend continuing working on that one

Idea: Stages of Life

Post by saraith »

How about a map that mimics the stages of life:
Specifically:
    infancy
    childhood
    adolescence
    adulthood
    retirement
    seniority

territories could be things that relate to the various stages, like diapers, playground, job, nursing home

I got the concept in my head, but I am no artist.
To achieve balance, first you must grow.
To grow, first you must learn.
To learn, first you must listen.
To listen, first you must shut the hell up.

we need visuals
im currently thinknig of something similar to the "time" map, where it shows earth in 5 different stages of time all changing, but instead of earth theres a human, eg instead of pangea theres baby, instead of past theres kid etc

could be good but to inspire some people you need an image ;)

This map has been moved into retirement.

It would appear that development of this map has stalled, as there have not been any updates for some time.

If the mapmaker wants to continue with the map, then one of the CAs will be able to help put the thread back into the Foundry system ;-)

Re: Supercontinent - Pangaea

Not a half bad idea, the difficult part would be the impassibles, or easy part if you're creative enough to take liberty in the fact that we don't exactly know where the mountains, rivers, deserts were 220 million years ago (although science gives a good estimation of where they should be... in theory) There was a time travel map that used Pangaea as a part of the map... lemme find it. Time and Place map There should be a Pangaea Ultima (Earth +250 million years) map floating around in the recycling bin too.

I think this idea has been suggested a couple of times and tried once or twice. Pangaea tends to fall into the category of maps that have been tried that just don't even seem to make it very far, like Mars and the Moon...

I myself keep toying around with ideas for maps once I'm done, or nearly done with Japan one of them was a map of Earth at the end of the Cretaceous, 65 million years ago. I thought the shape of the continents would be very recognizable and would be different enough to keep the Hasbro legal group away... ;)
