Classic Map Revamped
It has been over 1 year since our beloved Classic was replaced with Classic Shapes and Classic Art. Two months ago, our Foundry Foreman announced that the Classic map is being revamped. Since then the Classic Revamp has gone through the open foundry process, and the community has reached a consensus on its design. Today, the revamped Classic has been quenched and is live. Based on your feedback so far, it seems clear that the revamp will be very popular and well received.
Classic Shapes and Classic Art have served their purpose and those games have been merged back into Classic. As I've mentioned in the October announcement, we don't like fracturing identical gameplay over several maps because it skews stats and achievement medals. And if one version looks much better to most players, is makes sense to concentrate the games on that version.
Based on feedback from the October announcement and from the Society of the Cooks moderators, we've made a special arrangement for the Society of the Cooks training group. Anyone who's a member of the Society of the Cooks usergroup will automatically see the abbreviated region names of Classic Shapes (A1, N3, etc...) appear superimposed on top of the Classic map. This way the Society of the Cooks can continue to use efficient play instructions.
We all owe a big thanks to [player]sully800[/player] for developing the Classic revamp for the good of Conquer Club, to the Foundry Foreman and his Cartography team for facilitating the process, to all club members who gave input on the revamp and also to the "Star Chamber" for their stellar contribution - designing Classic Art in just 12 hours to give all of us an interesting alternative to Classic Shapes.

Dang, I didn't realize that Classic Art was for the axe as well... shame, that, always had a soft spot for that one.
Congrats, sully, a job very well done indeed.

I love the change, but it's kind of hard to tell the difference between continents. I could imagine new players would be confused.
