Huh. This is interesting. If I put up a 1v1 casual game in the afternoon North America Time (okay, a general term) I can find myself in some pretty intense Real Time games with some freemies that will keep me on my toes. Like 15 seconds a turn keep me on my toes kind of play. I think what you are looking for is out there, but maybe not in the form you are looking for.

there should be an option for faster speed games. speed players, myself included, do not need 5 minutes a turn for "most " maps.
and waiting till 4 : 30 to pass b4 moving is just a waste of time.

Moved to Suggs and Bugs.

This is something I would like to see implemented and there have actually been a number of discussion topics on this idea before.

I think it should be something like 30 seconds to start your turn then 5 minutes to play maximum. So if you don't start your turn in 30 seconds you miss it.

I love the idea for the assassin games you sit around in for 5 minutes waiting for someone to just end their turn.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.

1 minute, 2 1/2 minute, and 5 minute speed games

Post by azezzo »

Concise description:
  • Give the option in speed games for 1 minutes, 2 1/2 minute, and 5 minute turns.

Specifics/Details:
  • Many times players complain about how slow speed games go, especially when everybody waits 4 minutes and 30 seconds before doing anything. This would give the option to have much faster speed games

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • It will vastly speed up speed games, and give an option for faster, or slower speed games

I think 1 min is a better time because it is nice to have a little time to think about what your going to do which could be a problem for 1/2 min speed games.

This could not be an option for big maps. Without clickable maps you cannot do too many moves in 2-3 minutes (take 40 territories for example).
But, again, it's another option to play so welcome if Lack makes it possible :)

I like this Idea, but the other way around... I mean, make speed games a little slower... Sounds crazy, right? Let me explain... I'm having a problem with my internet connection, and sometimes it freezes, which means I'm taking up to 15 min to complete a turn. Maybe this original Idea could be completed with this:

Make it possible to choose the length of a round

This would enable some players to play 2 min speed games, and other like me, with internet problems to play 15min speed games... Or even some people who play at work to play 1hr games in which they only have to check back every hour or so...

It's an interesting notion that members with disposable cash and a strong desire to see a bit of development done could now pay for it.....I'd be happy to see it if it adds options but doesn't change existing ones.

If it takes off, they could even hire more people to do this, or the existing one(s) could do this for a living!

Many software companies operate under the pay for new features method.

Bugs are always fixed for free, and the development team has a list of things that they will work on when time permits, but if a customer is willing to pay the full cost of getting a new feature added, it is up to them to pay!

probably not that much. It's also about getting the right balance so that people can finish turns if they are in a big escalating elimination run.

If your connection is that bad, you may have to accept that you can't play speed games. A 15 minute speed game is a horrible idea...that means up to 1 hour per round for a 4-player game. A "short" game could take 6-8 hours. A longer game would mean spending a day or more sitting at the computer.

Not agree,i mean if you have options to play 1,2,3, or 5 minutes speed game, and nobody can force you to play World 2,1 in 1 minute turn, but if for example 6 people want to play 1 minute World 2.1, why we dont alove that. Every people can decide what its best for play. Many small maps ,5 minute for turn its to much time, and many time you need to waith to long to play your turn.Waste of time.

meh.
here is a real suggestion.

speed game time could have 2 or 3 spots.
you could choose between 1min turns, 2 1/2min turns or normal 5min turns.

But the real thing that SHOULD be changed is... the time added, yes its ok that you add 2,5min or w/e for a kill, but for god sake, have a maximum time at 5min!
On 8man standard speed games its normally always turns that gotta wait like 10-15min. thats annoying.
And when you just saw at the BR's. Some of the game turns were about 1 hour long! on a speed game. thats some real bullshit in my eyes. aint much of a speed game then when you gotta wait 1h on 1 freging turn.

- brann out :)

Maybe add another 30 seconds when you eliminate someone?

I will pony up some cash to get Adjacent Attacks implemented. It's very difficult to play when the rules aren't enforced by the game engine.
