That been said, I now agree that computer genererated intensity levels are not random and perhaps it would be more so if they had a few guys putting six labelled pieces of paper in a bag and randomly reaching in without looking...

Yes, i totally and fully agree that there is no such thing as "luck". If something bad happens to you, you might say it's "bad luck", but it all falls under the realm of statistical probability.

Do you know how hard it is to be random? We are wired to see patterns and duplicate them. It was rough.
Some argue there is no such thing as random, just patterns of different levels of complexity... A pattern too complex to comprehend appears random to the observer.

might be... But i can just call out numbers without thinking... there might be a pattern, but then again there might not. Say 5,478,4,7,3,9,2,89,2,7,2,6,9,6,4,6,88,5,4.
Can you think of a pattern? i was just hitting the numbers on the keyboard without looking.

No luck? So people who win in lotery exactly know what number its a winner?
No. It's all a case of statistics and probabilities.
If there's a 1 in a million chance of winning a lottery, and a million people play, then statistically one of them is going to win. Just the same, if one person would play the lottery a million times, statistically he would win at least once.
Of course, in real life, this is not necessarily the case. The random factor comes in play.
Now did you really need me to explain to you how a lottery works or did you just want to be a smart ass?
That does not mean that there is no luck, and that the person that did win was not lucky.
Statistically having a One in a million shot of winning, and winning, is the very definition of the word luck.
However, over time, on CC with dice, it is unreasonable to assume that any given player is lucky over time, much more than any other...however, it is completely true, that some ARE more lucky than others to varying degrees. However, the amount of luck would be negligible, and would only have an impact on an individual game basis, certainly not over many games, realistically.
Further, some players are luckier than others in their games. Very often, and more often one player who plays another very often will have won more than 50% of the games, and not just in situations where one was better....all things being equal, the one player really was just more lucky. It happens all the time, and Ive been on both ends of it. There have been players I always roll poorly against, and some I cant seem to lose against. Its just a random occurrence, but it does make me lucky, when I win those, as the definition of the word luck implies, defying the odds, even to a small degree.

Yes, there is a large percentage of digits that immediately follow one another. Its very possible that if you continued for 1000 numbers, that you would very much generate a non-random set of numbers. It may only be affected by whether you are a righty or not, but without a doubt, you cannot be expected to type out an actual random set of numbers, even if you end up with a random set of numbers, ironically enough.
On a small scale 2,8,5 is random as it can be, excpet that I purposely chose random numbers, and once I typed 2, there was virtually no way I would have hit the 2 again once, let alone twice, because I wanted it to be random. But in truly random numbers, 2, 2, 2 is absolutely possible, if absolutely rare. After 1000 numbers or so, these types of decisions would generate a completely non-random set of numbers...that probably just happened to be random. They would simply be too random to be random.

Statistically having a One in a million shot of winning, and winning, is the very definition of the word luck.
But the question remains, is luck something concrete: a measurable constant or variable, or is it an abstract concept, based on our perception as humans and our definitions on what constitutes as "lucky"?
I would say that the very definition of luck is defined by the subject, or an observer of the subject. One might say "wow I was lucky not to get hit by a meteorite today". Some other might say, "man I was unlucky I didn't win at lottery today". Or these two hypothetical example persons could consider each other lucky or unlucky, based on their values and beliefs, what they consider to be lucky.
As you can see, being "lucky" is clearly a matter of perspective.
"Getting lucky" is a whole other concept however...

You're missing the point. The point is not whether or not I, or any other random person or entity, can think of a pattern. The point is, that in theory it is possible that even the most random sequence in existence might have a pattern, but it would take the most intelligent lifeform or entity in existence to figure out what that pattern might be. The same way, we as relatively intelligent beings may perceive patterns in various things that creatures less intelligent than us would not see, and thus they would only see them as random.

True. Or maybe there just was no pattern and that is the pattern

Of course, everyone on the first page of the scoreboard has it enabled.
of course not! you still use this old stuff? XML cheat codes are much better. PM the mapmaker, offer him something interesting and he will tell you.

odd even even odd odd
odd even odd even odd
even even odd even even
even even odd even
Yes, a pattern of, within every row of five, you begin and end with the same thing, whether odd or even, and have the same number of those beginning/ending with odds as you do beginning/ending with evens.
Now you may say the last row, of 4, doesn't count, but I'd say you zero-fill; zero is not an odd number, it's even, so the pattern works.
Just sayin'

i think if we could get virtual blonde chicks to blow on anything .... its not going to be the stupid dice ....
and yes they are stupid ... as each of these threads all come down to it eventually ... no logic or randomness at all, so forget disputing it .... just make sure and treasure those perfectly insane dice whenever they venture on to your computer ... it may be weeks before they return

y'all know random.org works by picking up frequencies and stuff in the air. if you scream at your computer whilst rolling that usually works.
had i been wise, i would have seen that her simplicity cost her a fortune
