Yugoslavia
Has anyone thought to try and make a map of Yugoslavia during it's heyday? You could even throw in a little Cold War action going on having it surrounded by the USSR and Greece, even continue the map across the Adriatic to include Italy.
Just a thought I had in mind.

Re: Yugoslavia
I'll try working on an image if someone wants to try and do the programming...I'm no use in programming.

Yugoslavia never had cold war between her and Greece. as for USSR, we had conflict in 1948 when Tito refuse to submit under USSR regime, which ended up in expulsion of Yugoslavia from communist information bureau. but from Stalin's death in 1953 relationship between Yugoslavia and USSR started worming up, and we come to peace in 1956 when Khrushchev demolished Stalin’s legacy...
also, Yugoslavia never had borders with USSR(we had borders with Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, Italy, Austria)... so anything like throwing cold war would be breaking up historical facts...
although, it wouldve been fun to see something like Yugoslavia in late 60s with crises centers that lead up to change of constitution in 1973 and eventually led to collapse of the country...

Re: Yugoslavia
A yugoslavia map would be nice, but i don't think any territories outside yugoslavia should be present in the map. The whole map would be just yugoslavia, the 6 republics would act as continents and be further divided into regions.

I think of the Communist blocs essentially as an extension of the USSR. I apologize if I was confusing.

That might be easier to work with. Actual spellings would be interesting to include.
Re: Yugoslavia
After some very thorough searching...I've found the map I think I'll work this from for just the basic detail.

Here are the initial changes I've made...any and all suggestions as to how to split it up and what to add are welcome!

Re: Yugoslavia
I'm very excited to be working tonight and thus I have this...
The exact same thing without the other Yugoslavian names in the way...along with black squares as a reminder to where the cities were.

I've only just realized that the rivers are difficult to see like this. I'm also think of blanking the other countries so there would be room for a key and to not take away from the highlighted region, Yugoslavia.

Re: Yugoslavia
I was wondering when someone would start to design that map. Maybe the best idea would be Yugoslavia in 1990 before the wars, or maybe in the war with special bonuses for occupied territorries. I'm here to help if someone decide to do it

I've been working on the original I posted, but getting it to be accurate is terribly tricky. I had to replace the cities that were of the original map I took to make it several times comparing their locations on a big expansive map to rivers and borders. As for territories within it...I don't know of any accurate means make the territories into the countries with comparing those same big expansive maps to the one I'm working on and seeing if what I make comes out...relatively good.
Re: Yugoslavia
The things you need to consider before continuing too far are 1) the specific period in history which you are planning to map out, and 2) how will this translate into a map on Conquer Club.
I've updated the image links you posted to make use of [img] tags instead of [url] tags - I also used a direct link to the image as opposed to the page on your host. You may find it beneficial in the long run to switch over to something like Photobucket or Imageshack

Re: Yugoslavia
Alright! Believe it or not...I have not stopped working on this project. I've merely been delayed thanks to college. However, I do have a new edit for everyone's consideration and a couple of ideas for the map.

As you can see, little and yet a lot has changed. One of the cities was way out of place and that has been corrected. Then I went about removing the other country details such as rivers/lakes/cities and then enlarged the Yugoslavian national border, rivers, and cities.
What I'm thinking of is dividing this map into the six different republics as suggested already, further dividing those into territories. Rivers are not crossable except at certain points. The cities highlighted auto-deploy x amount of troops. While outside countries, depending on their size, start off as neutral and can be conquered for a bonus. I'm really not going for any historical time period (besides the time period in which Yugoslavia still existed obviously) and have since abandoned the idea of any cold war ideas.
As always, this is welcome to assistance and ideas. Bring on the critiques!

Yugoslavia was in Communist block, but was not in Warsaw Pact, in The Council for Mutual Economic Assistance and there was moore freedom as in other Communist states...
maybe map from Civil War should be fine. there could be freedom bonuses...?

Re: Yugoslavia
if it is map for the civil war, then slovenia and macedonia are useless on the map (maybe there can be some with with serbia, bosnia and croatia only). As far as yugoslavia goes, there can be just plain normal map with all the republics (provinces for non ex-yugoslavs
) or maybe the WW2 theme (ocupied teritories, and you get special bonuses if you held the republics.
Also the neighbouring countries can be included, but that's basically the map of Balkans

Re: Yugoslavia
OK, since no one is doing this anymore, I might take over this project. I've never made a CC map before, so I expect some help. I have an overal idea of how this map could be made, and what the bonuses would look like (it won't be just 6 republics!), but I think I'll have problems with drawing the borders of the regions.
BTW, the last post in this topic was on 27. May - that's my birthday.

Go for it. Just start a new thread once you have a draft ready.

Re: Yugoslavia
My friend ($nakeface) had this idea. We were putting a map together of the 1990's civil war. I don't know much about it, my friend was the historical expert. I just did the graphics. For some reason he backed out of posting the idea. I think he was discouraged by the Balkans map. Here's what we came up with:

Re: Yugoslavia
That's a really skinny Italy.
The breakup of Yugoslavia is a bit tricky and my knowledge is a bit limited on it too. But its my opinion that if you plan to do a historical map that the regions should reflect the areas where conflict was seen, as opposed to administrative areas. Plus, something like the religious dynamic of the civil war would be nice to integrate in there as well.

Well like I said, I was just the graphics guy. I really don't know a damn thing about the religious dynamic of he war. I can always clear off the territories and give you the layer file for you to do whatever with.

Re: Yugoslavia
Ofc, I'll open a new thread for the draft, but now I will show you what I've made so far. I still have many changes in mind, so don't start giving me any suggestions yet - save it for the first draft. I will post this only to give you an overal picture of what I'm planing to do, and also I want to hear your opinion whether my not-so-good graphic skills are good enough to make a map.
This map isn't about any time period... or rather, it's about all time periods of Yugoslavia.
On map I forgot to mention the Kingdom of Serbia, State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs, and trieste bonuses. I'm not sure whether I'm gonna leave those mountains there, they don't look really nice. Rivers are impassabile. Hmmm.... is anything else I forgot to mention? Oh yeah, Trieste will start as neutral, and I'm thinking of making Belgrade, and maybe other big cities neutral. Maybe I'll make just Balgrade neutral, and it will give bigger autodeploy than other cities.
