Manual Deployment: Ethics of Secrecy
Hey, folks. I just started my first "Manual" deployment game (Europe Map) and I deployed all of my troops in one bonus (The Near East). Due to my own conservative playing style (or cowardice), I sought to avoid an early, major conflict in this game. As initial deployment is kept secret before Round 1, I thought I would openly announce that I had deployed all of my troops in The Near East, hoping to discourage other players that may have similar intentions for the bonus. Is marking my pissing territory in this way considered by any readers to be poor sportsmanship? Any feedback would be great! Thanks

actually what is to say you deployed where you said and by posting you are relying on players to read game chat prior to game commencement - doesn't this equate to declaring positions in a fog game?

Re: Manual Deployment: Ethics of Secrecy
Honestly I would have absolutely no problem with it. You are declaring your own intentions for all to see giving your opponents information about yourself and only yourself. Then again, any good CC player will also tell you people lie. You may have actually placed very few troops there hoping to not have contention for the bonus...
Personally, unless I know the person I try not to let stuff like that affect my playing and decision making because I'm not sure if the person is telling the truth or bluffing. So, I just play my game and let the dice fall where they may.

Sure it's fine. You can probably announce your own big stacks during a foggy game too...
Was this a good idea? To give your deploy away...did it work?
