i dislike it when someone says "go play a real guitar", they are completely different.
guitar hero - watching patterns of notes and reacting to them quickly enough to press the right keys
real guitar - making your own music or learning a song to play yourself

i play both real guitar and guitar hero, sometimes i prefer guitar hero, it is different enough that people who enjoy GH might not enjoy real guitar, and vice versa.

Unless you want me to play a crappy love song on an acoustic and wear tight clothes and sing in a nasally voice to impress women, but I would 't be able to live with myself...

Point is, I'm already really good at Guitar Hero and learning real guitar gives your finger callouses. Plus I have a crappy sounding voice which is very in tune. So the game tells me I rock on Expert when I sound horrible IRL. It's a self-esteem thing, okay? Let me pretend I have talent.

I don't understand. What is wrong with me enjoying playing real music, as well as enjoying playing GH/RB games? How about skateboarding? Can I do the real thing, and still play the Tony Hawk games? As I said before, those that compare guitar and Guitar Hero are almost certainly not people who enjoy video games. Otherwise I think they would see that the motivations of someone playing guitar and someone playing Guitar Hero are vastly divergent.
