Not really surprising.
80/20
LIBERALS usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net" to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.

Lets see;

Freedom of choice in personal matters: Except school vouchers, displaying of "religious symbols", smoking, creationism taught in schools, or anything else that doesn't fit in their worldview.

Government control of the economy: Can you say COMMUNIST much?

Government funded "safety net": In other words the RIGHT not to work and have people who do, support you.

Strict regulation of business: That would fall under "Government control"....communist.

Environmental regulations, civil liberties and free expression: Just don't wear a cross chain, put a Christmas tree up on public property, smoke cigarettes or any other liberty or expression that they don't like.

Promote equality/tolerate lifestyles: Sadly they do the opposite of this. How is Dave working 40 hours a week supporting Sam who sits at home waiting for his government check while watching Jerry Springer on a 40" flat screen TV "equality"? How do you justify supporting illegal immigration when they aren't paid the "fair" federal minimum wadge? That's not equality.

Actually, Religious symbols can be displayed, you can smoke, whatever, it doesn't bother me. Creationism should not be taught in schools though, as those who normally teach it are fundamentalists and will PUSH it onto the children who are 'learning' it. If there is a Scripture room in the school, then they can go there to talk about whatever they want to, just don't infringe on those who DO NOT want to learn it. The same can go for evolution (the choice not to learn it).

Government control of the economy: Can you say COMMUNIST much?

If they can handle it well. If they can't, they'll be voted out soon anyway. It is not communist, you just don't know what socialism is.

Government funded "safety net": In other words the RIGHT not to work and have people who do, support you.

Yeah, it's a RIGHT if you want to be a lazy douche who wants to live for AU$240 a fortnight. That's not a lot of money, but it can be for those who are disabled, a single mother/father. Not everyone CHOOSES to be in that situation, the majority of them actually DON'T choose to get government help. In a country where the cost of living is going UP quite a lot, then this government 'safety net' will not help a lot

Strict regulation of business: That would fall under "Government control"....communist.

Uh, yeah. Doesn't make me a communist, it just means I don't want business' to ruin people's lives, to do whatever they want, and to adhere to a strict code. They do need regulating, especially when it comes to destroying beautiful landmarks that has been naturally formed over millions of years (see: Kimberly's of Western Australia)

Environmental regulations, civil liberties and free expression: Just don't wear a cross chain, put a Christmas tree up on public property, smoke cigarettes or any other liberty or expression that they don't like.

Wear a cross chain, I don't care. Put a Christmas tree up on public property, it just means commercialism and materialism these days anyway. Smoke cigarettes, but be mindful were you do (like, inside a building, in people's faces. It's a courtesy.) However, if you do put a Christmas tree up, don't be a douche and stare at people with different beliefs with you, like those who don't believe in Christmas - ie. Muslims, Hindus, Jews - do their holy days as well in public.

I don't think you understand what the equality is. Equal chances for all, equal rights, be tolerant to those you do not have much knowledge about (see: Muslims, or Easterner's, or Africans, or minorities (no, I am not talking about African-American's in this case)). The wage does not have to be equal (as that would be kind of impossible to do in this day and age, and I think that it is ridiculous to try to do so). However, there should be a limit on how much a person should make when there are many, many people still living underneath the poverty line. A CEO getting 7 million $ a year, when someone is not even making $100 a week. That is NOT equal, and it NEEDS to be changed.

The debate is over.....

No it's not, you're just narrow-minded for other viewpoints, and cause you don't want to actually READ other viewpoints, the debate will go on, but in your head you'll always be right, because you are closing your mind to other propositions. Personally, I don't see how there can people with your viewpoints in the 21st century, as it's just inhumane to help others in need, like y'know, A PROPER CHRISTIAN SHOULD.

i got straight-up perfect 100/100 on the social scale, unfortunately i got a 10 on the economic part instead of a 0, i think for answering maybe on the free trade question

in any case my point is that there are plenty of statists here and plenty of self-confessed right-wingers, yet the test is so retardedly simplistic that no one is ever going to get either. or even centrist for that matter. and that's not even getting into the incredibly stupid way the test has of delineating and grouping complex ideologies (which pretty much all "find out yuor politiicicicicla offiilation!!!" tests fall prey to)

I'm pretty sure that we all agreed that it was a libertarian propaganda tool last time this was posted. I mean, they used the name of a political party to define one end of the spectrum and a word that I've never heard anyone use to describe themselves with on the other. Look at the base words in both the poles (liberty/state). Nobody would side against liberty.

I honestly can't understand how people can think like a liberal. Here in the US, before government got its filthy paws on the poor. The poor were taken care of by local churches and charities. That's the way it should be today. More government = less freedom and less government = more freedom. Government SHOULD be involved as little as possible in our lives. The governments role is to protect the nation from foreign enemies and maintain and uphold the Constitution of the United States and not much more. Free governments are not meant to take care of people.....because then....government just gets way too big. And the power, which once belonged to the people, now belongs to the government.

Not having the government dictating every aspect of your life. You know like, what school you go to, how much money you can make, where to live, how to live....etc.

Hmph. Wow, look at that - I can do ALL those things right here in Australia too, and we have a bigger government 'control' than the US.

Wait a minute, you just said you want the government to "even the playing field"..... so you have to make just as much as a janitor and a CEO. You want the government to decide for you how successful you can be. How's 200AU a week sound? For you, the janitor and the CEO of Fosters. ;)

I think we are confusing the idea that "freedom from" is the same as "freedom to" which they are not.

I don't think I'm ever going to go on the dole. Ever. I'm not even on some kind of payment at the moment, my parents earn too much. However, I do believe that some, who are in not a position where they can get out of the government payment, should get it - especially those with disabilities, single parent families.

I don't want the government at all to decide how successful someone should be. But those who do not have the abilities to improve themselves should not be reduced to poverty, which is where the government payment steps in. It is inhumane to allow someone to not even pay for rent, or standard groceries.

AU$200 is not the amount everyone should get per fortnight. I never said that. I said that if a CEO gets $7 million annually, while someone, let's say a janitor/cleaner, who cannot always afford to get higher qualifications, only gets only about $1000 a fortnight, which is only $26,000 annually, there clearly is a inequality. I know you could argue that the janitor/cleaner put themselves in the position, but if they don't have the money anyway, how are they meant to get themselves out of that situation?

P.S. I know this could make no sense at all.

Education and or training. I'm a high school graduate with some college but no degree. For 10 years after high school I made $3.00 - $8.00 per hour. Making less in those ten years then I make in one year now. How did I get out of that situation? I wasn't satisfied struggling to make ends meet and I wasn't about to have the government take care of me. So I got the training I needed and now live comfortably. And everyone has the same oppertunity to do the same thing outside of someone with disabilities, who as mentioned before, there are plenty of churches and charities that could and used to help them. Society is not going to let them be homeless and starving.... most of us are more compassionate then that.
