Leaders or Generals
Concise description:
* Add Leaders or Generals to the list of game settings.
* When you go to start a game underneath Fog of War, No, Yes will be Leaders or Generals, No, Yes
Specifics:
* A Leader or General will allow you to add +1 to your highest attacking assault cube or highest defending assault cube depending if on offense or defense. e.g. 5 and 4 = 6 and 4 or 1 and 1 = 2 and 1
* The Leader or General represents an extra troop to deploy at the start of the game.
* The Leader or General can be deployed anywhere you would normally be allowed to place a troop.
* Each player is allowed only 1 Leader or General during the game.
* Each team is allowed 1 Leader or General for each team member to place individually. e.g. 4 in quads, 3 in triples and 2 in doubles.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
* It would add a new dimension of strategy to all game types.
* It will be a fun feature that many players will enjoy and want to try out.
* It will be the first new game setting in a very long time and perhaps the last.

Re: Leaders or Generals new game play style
I'm not sure if it should be called a Leader or a General. So I was hoping you guys could help me out there and maybe a vote. I'm not sure if multiple leaders for team games is such a good idea. A region can never have more then one Leader on it at a time. The thing is people might feel shorted and a number of other things if a member of their team is in charge of the only leader and is allowed to place it wherever. If only one leader per team then perhaps the player who goes first for each team gets to drop the leader. In the case of freestyle games the person who first pushed begin or red and yellow in trips for example would be in charge. I'm trying to make this sound so simple but perhaps the programming involved to make this kind of change is too much work. In some cases it wouldn't seem like your leader effects the dice much at all but when your going against large stacks I think you will notice a difference. This would change the game in a lot of ways just like Fog of War does. Some people might like the idea of putting there leader on the front lines to see if they can quickly gain a strong advantage and other players would drop him in the back field and fortify it forward when they feel it's safe. Some players would target your leader right away but the leader defends just as good as he attacks. In the case of a lopsided drop people might drop the leader in the small bonus hoping he would defend it and ultimately beat them out of there. Please offer your feedback and support.

i dont get it, whats the purpose of the leader...
edit: perhaps similar to capitals risk? but instead of the capital being an objective the leader is like a super territory that has extra attacking abilities?

If you've ever played Lord of the Rings Risk, they have this feature. It's actually a pretty interesting feature.

Yeah. It's pretty similar to that.

I really like the idea. On Team games, I believe the player listed first on each team should be in control of that team's General (which I think is a better term than Leader), as with the invites feature and the order your team joins the game, you can determine who will control the leader.
However, I think that whoever has the leader, should be able to pass it onto one of their teammates. For example, in a Triples game on Team One, whoever is red could fort the General to blue, so that they could defend a key position or make an important offensive.
Great idea!

i like it. good idea
Re: Leaders or Generals new game play style
I like the idea, in principle. The only problem is changing the assault cubes. I understand that with certain coding, the numbers retrieved from Random.org could easily be incremented by 1, but lack has seemed extremely reluctant to do so, I assume from fear of talk of the "rigged dice" spilling over elsewhere...

I can't say I'm a fan of dice-altering updates. However, if there was a leader, I think having him get 1 troop for every 2 terts, or a consistent +1, it would be fun. Foggy games would have a whole new element to them.

Now that could definitely work. Digg it.the.killing.44 wrote:I can't say I'm a fan of dice-altering updates. However, if there was a leader, I think having him get 1 troop for every 2 terts, or a consistent +1, it would be fun. Foggy games would have a whole new element to them.
