absolutely. He needs to focus on the real problems, like the economy, instead of trying to censor a news agency that he is unable to control. "if you can't beat them, discredit them".

Hey, long time, no disagree! It's everyone's loss. And I voted 3rd party. A "protest" vote if you will.... voting for the best of two losers is no fun. ;)

That would be all well, and good, if Fox were a legitimate news agency. Since it is not, the president is acting for the good of the country. A free press is of the utmost importance for a properly functioning democracy. When you have corporate, and political interests using media outlets for their own personal gains, it is NOT a news agency.

Fox is JUST like CNN and MSNBC except from a CONSERVATIVE perspective instead of the LIBERAL MONOPOLY the media had before FOX came along. The White House trying to shut them down is a blatant disregard to the 1st Amendment.

You know, if you like one sided media there are places you can go: China, North Korea, Soviet Union, Venezuela, Iran and Cuba to name a few.

Just because a news network doesn't pander to your views doesn't mean it's not "real news". Fox News is just as "real" as MSNBC whether you like it or not.

I really can't believe you think shutting down opposing viewpoints is:

Are you kidding me? Remember that thing called the Bill Of Rights? Or will you just let that get trampled?

Also, if the other networks hated Fox News, why don't they run conservative news programs? There's a majority of conservatives in the country who only have one place to go (FNC). The demographic is huge. It's their fault for letting Fox News become so isolated on the center-right.

That's just it. A "conservative news program" is not news. It's political op-ed. When that is what a network is based around, it does not serve the good of the people.

I'm all for letting all sides of the political spectrum (both sides, in the USA) have their moment to speak, but when that moment is pretending to be a legitimate news agency, it crosses a line that erodes the ability of a free press to play their role in democracy.

In my opinion, the existence of Fox News is just another symptom of America becoming (or already having become, depending on who you ask), what some people have called, a corporate kleptocracy.

And a "liberal news program" is news? The debate is over. It's over, FOX NEWS is protected by the US Constitution.

Excellent point.

Again, there is a difference between giving space to a political op-ed show, and trying to pass one off as actual news.

Don't worry. I never expected the fringe lunatic demographic to understand. Hopefully, some of the more rational population will, though.

I was thinking the same thing as I read that statement.

Timminz wrote: Again, there is a difference between giving space to a political op-ed show, and trying to pass one off as actual news.

Today, Robert Gibbs used the examples of Beck and Hannity two show that Fox is a wing of the Republican party. Except that both of those shows are opinion shows, not news shows. If you want to judge Fox's news coverage, watch America's News HQ, FOX Report, Studio B, Special Report, and The Live Desk. If you can prove those shows are all biased, then you may have a case. Taking the two most conservative shows on the network and applying their viewpoints to all the other shows is not a valid argument.

In addition to this, the reason the White House is so focused on Fox News is because they dare to question what the government is doing. At one time, journalists took pride in doing that no matter who was in office. It's when the government is pleased with the news coverage of a provider that you know the media has failed at their job. They were created, and given the freedom to, challenge the actions of the government, not to cheer their programs. When the media supports the government, the citizens lose their freedoms and voices.

... Silencing opposing opinions, declaring LOCAL city election decisions unlawful (see link), grabbing private business like Hugo Chavez, an administration filled with followers of Mao, a deficit increase in 9 months greater than the combined deficit of our first 210 years as a nation...

... And people still love this guy. F*cking amazing.

Again Timminz... are you kidding me? How can you call O'Reilly & his ilk biased and then pretend that Olbermann and Maddow are legitimate news, just because they agree with your viewpoints? The hypocrisy is baffling. :?

Excellent use of mixed stereotypes. Proud ignorance is a wonderful trait.

Or - as in your case - blind ignorance is a wonderful trait...
Honest to God - is that the best you have to offer?

Not the best I have to offer. Simply the only point I was trying to make. You're an ignorant moron, who bases your opinions of people on retarded stereotypes. You have invalidated your opinion on the matter by showing that it is an uneducated one.

So...lemme see... at the point I posted that there were several comments stereotyping conservatives as "paranoid sore losers" yet you have the nerve to call me a moron for throwing some of the same back in your face? Screw you!
Have you ever even sat down and watched Fox News with anything other than the typical Republican-bashing attitude? -My guess is no.

You didn't even argue any of the points I made - mainly that those who oppose Obama must be far-right racists.
The problem with little know-it-alls like you is that you want to paint BHO as some kind of savior - ignoring the facts that- A) His voting record in Congress consisted mainly of voting "present" rather than committing to any true decisions. B) He was involved in more scandals BEFORE being elected than the last 5 presidents combined. C) He not only attended a church that - in their own doctrine - pledges allegiance to the continent of Africa, but was also married and children Baptised by arguably one of the biggest racist on the planet, Jeremiah Wright. D) His involvement in Acorn - another racist organization - benefited his election with the votes of thousands of illegals who have no right to even cast a vote... The list goes on and on, but, by all means, go right ahead and continue to pretend that Obama is some kind of Godsend - it demonstrates who the real "moron" is.

... Alright, tell me, what was the deficit last year at this time... no,January would be fine.

... What is it now?

... Inflation? You mean that thing that happens when you've completely run out of money, you're left with taxing the hell out of the people or just printing hundreds of billions with nothing to back it up? Yeah, I'm familiar with it.

... Pull your head out of your ass and pay attention.

Not happening at the moment though is it, US inflation is currently the lowest it has been for a decade , Britain has taken a similar stance and is just about to exit recession without the dire consequencies you are predicting.

Which is a symptom of insufficient money supply , doesn't exactly tally with the accusation of billions of dollars being circulated for no good reason.

I would like to wait a few more months before I declare the stimulus and associated programs/policies successful (or failures).
