Locking Threads

Post by nietzsche »

I find that seeing a thread Locked bothers me a lot. Sometimes I dont even want to say anything but it still bothers me.

1984 comes to my mind.

Can the mods express their need to lock threads? Can you state the actual policy that comands you to do so?

Why is it that you are always watching what other people say on the forums?

At least give us back Flame Wars and let us be free there.

You know, if you continue this policy someone less lazy than me would realize that making a forum outside CC and adding a greasemonkey script just to replace the link of the Forum tab would resolve the problem.

I don't think explaining why a thread was locked, is too much to ask for.

Lock er down!

Er wait. I'm just joking, but now this post may be viewed as off topic and actually constitute a lock?

In all seriousness, it's not too much to ask for an explanation of why a thread was locked. As lovo said, I think this usually happens, but it would be nice to see across the board.

Niet, why did you get rid of your last avatar. Who was that hot chick.

Oh, right, on topic. I've found that when I see a thread locked, I usually go read it. Those are often times the most interesting threads. By the end I want to post, and then I remember it's locked, makes me sad

why does it bother you? i mean unless you were actively involved in said thread, why do you care? I bet you're the suspicious-of-your-neighbors-type, and always wants to be involved in every aspect of every single person's life. But at the end of the day, i beg to ask the question: "Why on Earth do you care???"

You won't believe how close I was to locking this thread just then. I was seriously one click away :P

In most situations I'm opposed to locking threads at all. I don't approve of locking threads when it has "served its purpose"...only when the general flaming is dominating the thread itself really or if a particular user feels targetted. Then again, that's just my opinion.

True, but the odd occasion when they don't post an explanation it would be nice to, at least, know who locked it, so if anyone had any questions about it, they could know who to talk to.
