Drop-join to switch teams

Post by Sierra_Leon »

I doubt this could be considered cheating, but I find it pretty lame and I would like to hear how others feel about this. Here's what happens:

1. I find a doubles game (6 player, 4 empty spots left). First team is a new recruit and a private. I join the game.

2. A major joins the game, and thus my team. Lucky me! :D

3. The private from team 1 drops the game, then immediately joins again. The major and myself are moved one space up and he takes the fourth spot, leaving him in a team with the major and me with the new recruit. Lucky him...

Is this common? I couldn't find anything about it in the forum. I think something should be done to prevent this from being possible.

I'm not accusing anyone of being a multi, but sure you can have the game number: # 227965

Regardless, if that was done intentionally, then I agree... It is bullshit.

i dont think there are any rules against it, but yeah it was sort of cheap. you should have dropped it yourself and rejoined either on the major's team or on the team of a new person of high rank, just to spite the new recruit.

If he dropped the game, the major would've moved up into Team 1 in the number 2 slot and thus out of reach of either of them.

I think this could be made less easy to abuse by making it so that your empty spots is not automatically filled by players who joined later than you did. Instead of all the -empty- spot having to be last, you could get a situation like:

Player1 (who started the game, this spot can't be empty)
-empty-
-empty-
-empty-
Player5
Player6

Even nicer would be if you could choose which spot you want to take, so if the game above was a doubles which you and your friend would want to join, you could take spots 3 and 4, leaving spot 2 empty.

I'm a programmer myself though, and I'm pretty sure these suggestions would take quite some time to implement. Since this is not a high priority issue, it might not be worth it at this point.

Teammates

What about 'registering' teams with CC. Then the team enters, not individuals. Either member of a team could click Join Game and both would be entered. If either player clicks Drop, then both are removed.

As long as that wouldn't be permanent, that's a great idea. It would have to get approved by each member, otherwise you could snag an old teammate who might not actually want to play with you.

permanent? no.

CC could have a My Teams page/link like My Games. On that page, all your teams could be listed with a 'Leave Team' option for each team.
