You've gotta fix the deadbeat rules!

Post by HoustonNutt »

Eddy and I have lost (at least) two games because one person deadbeated his first three turns and his partner benefited from getting all the extra armies. If a person is kicked out, even in a doubles or triples game, his armies should go neutral. That would punish the deadbeat's team and not the teams playing against him.

Or, an even better thought, just make it so that you can select a minimum rank when setting up your games. It's rare that Sgts deadbeat.

Effin' noobs.

yeah, in trips it can be tough if one or two deadbeats....ive only lost one in trips that way and one in doubles, but it is a painful way to die

It's especially frustrating on a large map. All of the sudden, the guy who remains has 50 or 70 freakin' armies. Great. If you are playing no cards, might as well kiss your ass goodbye.

The stratagy behind deadbeating is actually sound:
If you skip two turns, then when you finally take your third turn you get three times the armies, but you get them all at once, a huge advantage. This is especially true if your defenses can outlast your skipped turns.

Well Dr. Jim, I was referring to people deadbeating completely out of a game. The issue of getting your missed armies is a whole other creature (and another one that I think should be addressed). Lack's to-do list should read more like:

Get dice that don't suck
Fix the deadbeat rules
Address gameplay options
Ban hendy

I don't really agree - I've never found this to be to anyone's advantage. I think it is as fair a way as possible to keep the games even. AND please stop complaining about the dice - they're always going to be cruel and we will just have to face that. Apparently they come from a totally random number generator anyway

I think the missed turn muliplyer thing should be stopped because like Dr. Jim said it is an advantage. I also think that you should be able to kick deadbeats off your team . I mean in a couple of my games, ive had teammates who started off with great positioning that just deadbeat out and i lose the game. I Agree with Houston about the list except ban hendy, who ive never had a problem with. Jamie on the other hand......

WTH are you talking about? The deadbeat team still has a disadvantage.

The only reason only don't like it because you were complacent during gameplay and thought you could ignore the inactive opponent, and suddenly you realise you might have to account for his armies again.

You realise that the other team - especially if it's a card game, is at a disadvantage because they can get one less card per turn, compared to the other teams that would get 2 or 3.
