But hey, there's no way I can understand that the people who matter aren't the raving lunatics, like jay, on an internet forum. Suck it up, and find a Republican if you want drooling love. They'll often buy your dinner at a restaurant, even if you would rather have a quiet night out with your family without any interruptions because of what you do as a profession.

Don't expect sympathy in the media when shit like this, this, Blackwater, etc... happens regularly enough to be on the news weekly.

You can deny shit all you want, but I know at least five current or recently serving service members who will openly admit the fucked up things some US military groups happen to have done yet not cower behind your "we're fighting for YOU" or "you're not us, you don't get it" shield. If you're going to sit here and argue that either these atrocities or right or they don't happen you're in some serious fucking denial. Yeah, maybe it goes 'against your code' and 'everything a marine is', but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

The fact that more oft than not the aggressors go either not punished or vastly under-punished is simply disgusting. Apparently since we're the 'big bad US of motherfucking A' we can commit whatever war crimes we'd like and get away with it... yet if ANY other military in the world were to be massacring that many civilians we'd have protests for the UN to intervene.

ok ill take the bait

firstly read the first sentence of the one with the dead family in a car. the car came barrelling through a checkpoint. our training says shoot tire then engine then kill no warning shot. from day one marines have escalation of force pounded into their heads. if a car is racing towards my checkpoint i will damn well open up with my saw. the civilians know how it works they did that to themselves. we have a saying in the marine corps id rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6. its something like better safe then sorry. and we have hostile act/hostile intent we need those 2 things to shoot a car speeding towards my ecp is damn well hostile. how many times has a suicide bomber been stopped because he was fired on while speeding at a checkpoint? a helluva lot more then civilians killed for doing the same. do you know how much time you have to decide what to do when a car is moving 40, 50, 60, or more miles at you? if you want to find out go stand next to a freeway its split second decisions and you cant tell whos driving that vehicle so you do what you have to do stop that vehicle from reaching you and most likely killing marines and civilians.

Next the single most dangerous weapon to american forces is the insurgents mastery of io. they exploit firefights and alleged civilian deaths better than anyone can imagine. so heres the version of events a convoy gets hit. marines kill 8 insurgents hiding among the populace while accidently killing 15 civilians who in the likeliest of scenarios were either more insurgents or just used as hostages by unsurgents. then a LOCAL guy says he has film of bodies. JUST BODIES. not them being killed or marines killing them JUST BODIES. and he says that marines pulled another my lai. and sidenote what caliber round were they shot with exactly? article doesnt seem to mention. then an "eyewithness" says he pretended to be dead? doesnt happen. we have a little thing called dead checks where you physically check to make sure he dead person is dead. if you just slaughtered some civilians wouldnt you definately make sure they were dead?

i really hate to say it but the spin put on these stories worked on you. some reporter took a set of facts and wrote it up in a sensationalist way probaly to make sure it made the morning edition and you took it hook line and sinker. maybe next time check both sides of the stories first

The simple fact is: YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT IS IS LIKE TO BE IN A FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE! Yes, shit happens in war. I'm sure some of the stories are true, that American soldiers have killed some civilians, very rarely even on purpose. You attempt to show us proof, and one article you give us simply refutes your point, because there was no way that those Marines purposely killed those civilians in that truck. The other is from some backwards Afghan goat herder with a thirty year old camera, with little proof other than dead bodies and eyewitness reports (which are some of the least reliable forms of testimony around).
