Prove to me that this is a religion bashing thread. Where is Christianity bashed?

I still can't see how people can accept this considering that a first person account of him, or the events which transpired around him, do not exist.

See, I can do it to.
Don't insult my intelligence, boy. I asked you to prove your claims that this a Christianity bashing thread. I expect you to prove it, since all the evidence should be right here. Again, I ask you to prove that Christianity was without a doubt bashed in this thread.

The first Gospel (Mark) was not written until 60-62 C.E., which is too far out of range to be a first hand account, and the last Gospel, John, around 90-110 C.E. which is WAY out of the area of being a first hand account.
Even if the texts supported the notion that the apostles wrote them, consider that the average life span of humans in the first century came to around 30, and very few people lived to 70. If the apostles births occured at about the same time as the alleged Jesus, and wrote their gospels in their old age, that would put Mark at least 70 years old, and John at over 110.
Thus, we can easily conclude that none of the Gospels are based off of first hand accounts.

This an appeal to popularity. It is a logical fallacy and thus does not speak to the validity of the Bible, Christianity, or Jesus existing. It's precisely the same as me saying "More people like chocolate then vanilla. Therefore, chocolate tastes better."

Seems like half of the posts in here bash Christians or Christianity.
You should be able to find one of the many.

A wonderful spin. I meant it only as a method of showing how childish your previous comment was.

Sorry, but you're the one telling me there is bashing. I am asking you to prove your claim. So why don't you show them to me, and explain why they bash Christianity. It would serve as a good start off to prove on legitimate grounds to the mods why this is a bashing thread.

Thank you, wicked.
There you have it, Caleb. The mods have made their decision.
Now perhaps you would like to address the points I and others have brought up. Otherwise, I have no reason to believe that Christ existed.

Caleb the Cruel wrote:I am offended, especially by the title, calling Jesus a myth.
And if offends me that you call him fact when he clearly isn't in light of all of the evidence against him.
If you look at it the way you're seeing things, Jamie's thread was just a debate of wether Muhammad was a homosexual, not bashing Islam.
Are you serious?
Let me quote all of Jamies posts:
Wow, I didn't know the leader of the Muslim religion was queer.
Queer, bi, he still had his dick in a mans butt, and a cock in his mouth
bigot is a synonym for racist. Saying Muhammad is gay, isn't racist. Saying Muhammad is a terrorist because he was Muslim, that would be racist. Calling me a bigot in this case, would be like calling me a bigot, cause I said Martin Luther King Jr. had an eating disorder. Pointing out a characteristic of a persons personality, or physical well being is not racist, unless it just happens to be a negative stereotype ofa particular race. I call my son a monkey, cause of the sounds he makes, but he is white so it is not wrong. If he were a black baby, then me saying that would be wrong because I am white.
And some other quote that has no relevance.
Tell me, of those posts, where did Jamie give objective evidence to support his claim? That wasn't debate, that was mockery of intellectual ability

Caleb the Cruel wrote:Jamie didn't say anything about Islam, just like this thread doesn't say anything bad about Christianity.
You're starting to flail willy nilly. Jaime made a baseless claim, without providing a source or evidence. We're asserting Jesus did not exist, with lack of historical evidence supporting this idea, and thus asking you to prove he did not exist.
Again, prove that we say "bad" things about Christianity. Simply because you do not like it does not mean it is so. Wait, no.
Instead, counter my points. If you can't, then you have failed at convincing me that Jesus existed.

Can't be arsed reading the whole thread (too late at night/morning [nightshift sucks]) but I just want to put my 2 pence worth in.
I'd say there's pretty much the same evidence that Jesus existed as Julius Caesar (his near contemporary). Basically you've got all these people writing about some prophet/scholar/revolutionary around this time called Jesus or Christ. Now of course there’s not many primary sources written when he was alive (not much literacy at this time and the Romans (the super power of the time, and where we get most of our histories of this period) didn't care too much what happened in the far off province of Judea especially to non-Romans. So most of the writings about him are from early Christians who either met him (rare) or his disciples (much more common) - so second hand. But still there’s not much non-Roman sources at this time of Julius Caesar either for the same reasons!
But it’s up to you whether you make the leap to say that historical figure is God/Son of God (and not one that I'd personally take).

We have more evidence that Julius Caesar existed more so then Jesus, nearly multiple by a billion. We have first hand accounts of Caesar from multiple sources and clear influences on history. With Jesus we have Zilch.

That's the thing. No one wrote about Christ during his life.

You really need to go back and read the long post I made on page three or four. I already addressed this.
