racking up points
what would you say is the best way to increase points? playing lots of 1v1 games and earning smaller amounts or joining large games against higher ranks with large amounts of points up for grabs but a smaller chance of winning? obviously winning games is the best way !

If you are good enough to compete with the good escalating players, than 5-8 player escalating games give you the best odds....you only have to win slightly more than the average.
if you can find a map you are good at, then nail some high ranks on that map..even if you win 50% you gain points for a while
join up with a good team, and play some of those games....if you join the right team, you may even learn some new things along the way
there are more, but these are the more basic strategies...and based on sequential
I'm Spanking Monkey now....err...I mean I'm a Spanking Monkey now...that shoots milk
Too much. I know.
Too much. I know.

Team games is your best option. You may want to consider finding a regular doubles partner to play with.

Don't make us do your homework for you. Look at the players highest on the scoreboard and find out how they make their points. Those methods are currently the best way to increase points.

Re: racking up points
What I'm experimenting with is to play on a map I'm good at, and play against officers in a multiplayer game (4-8 players). If I lose, I only lose a small amount of points, but if I win enough times (which can be less than 50%), I gain much more points than I lose.
Please notice that I used the word experimenting. I'm still trying to find the best strategy that I have the ability to use.

When you are new I recommend Terminator games. That way if you can even get one kill you will score some points.
Plus what the other guys said.
Also, if you are only playing to rank up, you are either going to have to spend some time really learning to play (and probably farm) or you are going to lose interest fast.

Re: racking up points
I imagine that mastering a certain setting on a certain map with a decent doubles partner and player 8-player games would be a good way to build points quickly. The only downside is that it takes those kinds of games a while to fill up, and mastering the maps and settings is easier said than done.
