I was going to suggest this and came across this thread. A lot of my friends that play have said it would be awesome to be able to review your games in a time lapse fashion. Def on fog games it should be limited to the end of the game but maybe this limitation should be placed on all games so that annoying little freestyle issue might be a little less so. I think the best way to show the "slides" would be on for every line of the current game log. This would show who placed troops where, and with just a little study you could see the failed attacks as well. (20 troops placed on Panama against my 15 on Guatemala, then next slide shows 3 troops on Panama and my 10 still on Guatemala.) I don't know if that makes the coding or the storage size issues any better but it was just a thought.

Unless the attacking territory happens to have more than one border, your idea has merit.

This is the second thread I found about the suggestion for videos of time-lapse play. Obviously, requests won't speed it as much as more memberships.

My question is whether anyone has made private videos of their games. Half on youtube are people playing the board game, impossible to figure. The other half are by this guy. Those are closer to what we need but only on classic and against the game's AI.

I am making one currently for game 6351207, but the game will likely stretch twenty more turns (8 player Hive map, only one fatality so far).

Time lapse is good b/c if there's is a fog game created and one team is last to join but also first to move there is the opportunity for you to never even see the map before the action is taken and you will be at a disadvantage. Also even if there is a snapshot option, you shouldn't need to rely on it. In an actual war you would be able to see where troops are advancing or know of territories you lost without necessarily knowing all troop deployments etc. - it just makes sense to permit deployments that are not hidden because you own adjacent territories to be described in detail in the game log or to allow a playback option.

someone could progam this, but i only see it working with non-fog games.
Just paste the entire log into a box and click process.
Arrows will come up showing troop movements, and the amount of troops can easily be read from the log.
I'll retire into my basement now and learn to program good.

But following it on Hive would be painstaking
