Stop rewarding people who don't end
I find it very aggravating that in a freestyle game it rewards a person for running out of time. People will wait and wait and wait and not end on purpose so they can start the at the beginning of the next round and not have to wait for any of the other players to start.
It is true that they do not get a card if they deserve one, but a number of games are with no cards and the advantage of going last and being able to go first is huge some times. Similarly it is available for everyone to do, but it makes the games boring and longer then they need to be.
If the change was made to not let someone start if they ran out of time until another player starts, or half the time has gone by it would take away this advantage. It would work just like they ended last and would affect everyone who ran out of time.
Someone will say that it is part of the game to go fast at the end like that but I would argue it would take more skill if running out of time held a penalty with it.

Is the double-turn not reward enough for those dedicated enough to wait?

Re: Stop rewarding people who don't end
So what happens when someone has a genuine reason for running out of time.
Like Lag or not paying attention to the clock etc. They have already missed a card which is punishment enough.
If it worries you so much just wait and watch them run out of time and take full advantage of the situation.

Highest Rank 4th.
Re: Stop rewarding people who don't end
freestyle is almost as cowardly as fog of war
Re: Stop rewarding people who don't end
How is either of those cowardly unless you are afraid to play them?

I am saying do not reward them.

Lag is a genuine reason, but not paying attention is not. Many freestyle games do not have cards and thus there is no downside to running out of time over just ending and in fact the current system rewards those who run out of time because they can start right away.
I like how most peoples posts were not arguments at all, did not talk about the issue of fairness or any other issue for that matter, and simply told me to stop playing.
Please if you are just going to say how dumb I am or how I need to learn to play do not comment. Only constructive comments please.

Has anyone ever played a game of RISK freestyle? I think probably not. There are so many ways to play cheaply, I don't bother to play it at all. So when it comes to people bitching about how things are unfair, nobody really cares because all you have to do is not play freestyle.

I say we do, reward me with your points - join a few of my freestyle speed games I have up from time-to-time.
Otherwise, just be quiet and save your points from being stolen by dedicated elites and don't play freestyle. You're clearly not up to freestyle, and you will save us all your bitching if you just steer-clear of this setting.

Re: Stop rewarding people who don't end
its part of freestyle, but alot of players would be happy to see 2 n 1/2 minute rounds instead.
Re: Stop rewarding people who don't end
To the people who say it is part of the game, that is a fair statement.
To the rest who say just dont play freestyle, that is a horribly dumb statement to make considering it is one of the major game functions. I am sorry that I desire the fast pace game play of freestyle but dont want the cheesy lame tactics.
How many people who dont play freestyle would consider playing freestyle if this was changed?

Re: Stop rewarding people who don't end
Um, people "accidentally" running out of time in casual freestyle games will very rarely happen. Almost all instances of double turning are by people who know what they are doing, and do it often. I think it would be fairer to remove it, (yeah yeah, stop playing freestyle or stop bitching), I think it would do the site good.
It confuses people new to Freestyle games and makes for bad FS game experience.

Both you and your opponent have to roll the dice, so no, I've never played R*SK FS.

If you play a large freestyle game it isn't really a concern.
Re: Stop rewarding people who don't end
Always go last and you will never get double turned (it's not really that hard).

That's the thing about "options". You have a choice to take them or not. Not every type of play has to please everyone.
If you want to suggest a new feature .. think it through and make a real proposal. Else, yes, just play Sequential.
Re: Stop rewarding people who don't end
just remember, every option adds new strategies to the game. Double-turning just happens to be one strategy for freestyle. If you don't like it, either don't play freestyle, or suck it up and don't complain.

Re: Stop rewarding people who don't end
Isnt this a bug thats being abused? If its not a bug, what was the reasoning for having it in the first place? I hardly think lack had the double turning strategies in mind when incorporating this.
Anyhow, I dont know whether getting rid of this will make casual freestyle any fairer -- or make more people play that game type. I mean how can it be fairer when the last person to join gets to go first. What about freestyle casual team games? the way it can be abused is frankly limitless.

Only start/join freestyle games with spoils and probably avoid speed freestyle altogether. I checked your games and you do that for the most part already, so you already have the right idea.
Maybe find a group of like-minded individuals and set up private games? Maybe even start up a clan for such people?
Short of that, I can't think of much you can do.

People would just end a couple of seconds earlier. I can't see anyway way that you can get the time bennefits of freestyle without a lower quality game. I don't play 24 hour freestyle either. I only play speed freestyle when there are no sequential games to play. Complaining really doesn't do much. It's like leaving a pile of cash in the middle of the road and then complaining when it is stolen. Double turns are part of 24 hour freestyle games, if you join them then you have to expect that. Waiting till time runs out happens in speed freestyle, part of the game. If you make people have to end, they will end with a half a second left, what's the difference.
