If we don't all voice our concerns about the banning of fred over some nonsense excuses then who will stand up for us when we get banned?
If we can now be banned over curses in game chat, then I think any of the regulars here can receive a permanent website vacation whenever the mods or admins chose.
I also have to question the legality of such a website operating in the united states where freedom of speech is guaranteed to all citizens.

International, national and regional standards recognize that freedom of speech, as one form of freedom of expression, applies to any medium, including the Internet.

Completely agree. There is something very cynical about taking a kid's money for a new account, only to ban him on the new account because of (quite minor) offences on the old account.

I'm still of the view that an admin completely overreacted in jeff hardy/Fred's case, probably now realises that they overreacted, but, in the interest of 'not showing weakness', must now bully on through.

Not sure your 'free speech' line is really going to go anywhere though. This is a private site and, to my knowledge, has the right to ban any member at any time. CC's word is final in all cases.

However, I do think there is an issue with accepting the money of minors and then expecting them to live up to the standards you would expect of adults. Most forum bans seem to me to be caused by the inherent immaturity of the member in question. I don't doubt that these kids can seem incredibly annoying to the mods and other members, but in the cases of minors I would think the best way to deal with it would be to forum ban and yes, even gamechat ban if necessary, but still allow these kids to play.

There is something rather distasteful about banning a kid who obviously had a great amount of ability at the game because he caused a little trouble in live chat. So bloody what? Is this a gaming site or a forum? 2% visit the forums and CC ban a general quality player because of live chat infractions?

Finally, I think our mods and admin team might benefit from a little more experience and wisdom. Most of them seem to be at school themselves and from what I remember of my schooldays, the natural reaction of the teenager to a social annoyance is to exclude first and think about it later. I suspect that's what happened in this case.

Lack, how about getting some adults to mod your site?????

The part I don't understand is that he was banned for bad language in game chat.
this has nothing to do with farmers or multis
it has to do with him being banned over game chat, and i don't think it was an appropriate course of action

the majority of the people in the original thread pretty much said to not get your panties in a bunch and use the foe feature
simple as that

and the people I listed are the people I would also stand up for if they were banned over something as trivial as game chat and cursing
its just not right to me

and it certainly doesn't have a god damn thing to do with any of the cases you listed above.
this is strictly about fred being booted for game chat
it was the straw that broke the camels back, but its still a bullshit excuse to perma ban someone from the site when people can not join the games or foe the person

Due to FredVIII's numerous benefits of the doubt during past issues with his account(s), in addition to previous Warnings and Vacations, taking into account the recent game chats, the culmination of all this has lead us to issue a Permanent Website Vacation for FredVIII---no buy backs or coming back.

i was listing regulars that i know and have played against and to my knowledge the members I listed are still in full standing with this site regardless of their pasts
the facts still remain, if any of the players I listed were banned over game chat, I would speak up for them

and of course, as has always been the policy, repeated offenders will have their punishments ramped up accordingly.... much like xtratabasco's hate speech, took a long time for him to earn a full ban, but it did happen eventually...

fred wasn't perma banned for having a multi, or farming, or any other form of cheating
he was banned for using words
and with him not being able to either post in the forum or PM anyone, its not that difficult for someone to eliminate an offending player from their CC life

back to the basics
#1 avoid the player
#2 foe the player

this is just about a 15 year old kid being banned for cursing in game chat

and i feel its an obligation for me to stand up for someone who has no voice and express my opinion that I do not think its right to take his money and ban him from playing a game he obviously loves

I think pretty much most people who are going to disagree with the disciplinary action that was taken have already stated their opinion in the original thread that accused FredVIII of "cheating" (mild swearing). 80+% of the people posting there were coming to his defense, and many more can go say that they think it was wrong, and I doubt it will have any effect. How often do you think the administration is going to admit that they made a bad call, when it isn't necessary that they do so?

If FredVIII/Jeff Hardy has already cheated and abused the site enough for the admins to give him a permanent-site ban, then it should have been done before he was accused of "not breaking the rules." Abuse plus not abuse doesn't make the first abuse any worse.

I have accepted that he's not coming back, no matter how much we complain.
