Did you ever bother to actually read what you typed then?

The very first sentence from your first post:

"Why do you guys join a game with 3 or four Captains or higher? You can not win."

Sounds pretty damn inflammatory and insulting to me.

Jamie, every time you open your mouth you sound like an arrogant ass. Here's what you asked for, I'm a Sgt:

i play for fun. i don't play to either win or lose but to get to know other players. maybe you should play one of the Generals so we can see the butt whoopin' you'll get.

i'm a sgt and most of the people i play are higher ranking but, i stick to playing with friends. if i play someone who is snobish about their rank i don't play them again. the game is supposed to be fun not a pissing contest.

think about that Jaime.

jaime one more thing. why not play against say, wicked, me and one other sgt of our choosing and see who wins. terminator game 3 of them best out of 3. if you lose to a low ranking person then you can stop your crap and stop talking shit. okay

how about it big boy?

oh, forgot one more thing.

I hate the way everyone here seems to assume newbees on this site are new to the game and therefore easy to beat. The game is based on Risk people could have been playing for years but just new to the site.
Although it does take time to learn the new map strategies and some of the high ranked people will obviously know the gamey tactics to manipulate the points ladder (as with all internet games).

If you study the rankings, then you would want to play people higher ranked than you because that is the way you get to learn. When you see what they do, and the tactics they use, it helps your game.

Personally, I join games for the type of game thats availble when I'm ready to start another game. I'm playing for the fun of the game. Sure, I might look at the opposition, and hope that the lower ranks don't win for my points, but I'm not prepared to make game changing decisions to protect my points (Where as those with a high ranking, I know are good players, and I will change my plan for good players compared with unknown players).

I hold the rank I do because of the games I win, not the games I lose. To me a win is a win, and a loss is a loss.

I'll join games with high-ranked players because I'm the type to challenge myself. I want to get beat up, so I see how ya'll do it and I can learn for next time. I may not be the greatest player ever (yet), but I want to pick up on as much strategy as I can. I'm going to do that in ranked games, not noob games.

ahhh... if only this was in the flame forum... I don't know man, maybe we want to learn from studs like you? You are a boardgame hero and us noobs just want to spend time around you sucking up your greatness.

I like this answer...

I also like the extra points I receive for beating someone better than me.

JOHNNY, you must think I'm as naive as a noob. I wouldn't join those games if I kne my P's would be blitz, and who ever was second on the coreboard. FREESTYLE???? C'mon, I know betterthan that. Last triples freestyle game I was in, I don't know how they did it, but one of my P's was eliminated before getting a turn, I was wiped out by round 2, and the game was over by round 3. After one round over half my men were gone, and it said it said I missed a turn, when I hadn't in one of the rounds. I thin kyou might even have been involved in that game. You want me in a triples game, fine, get whomever you want as P's. I set up a game. 208387. When ifind me a couple of P's, join up with whomever you wish. Beat me in that, and I 'll make a thread in your honor. Don't know how it's done, but something's wrong in a freestyle game when my two P's and I are all but eliminated after only 1 round, and the other team have 3 continents, all well fortified.

now see.......I can actually relate to this......right now, I have more points than most Captains and Leuitenants. So whoever posted the one about Colonels only is the one I actually should be in.......Just because I dont have the right amount of games in should not discourage you from playing me regardless of what my points are! I know you will lose a lot if I win.........and only win a little if I lose......but if I am that good (which I am, and cocky too) then you shouldn't be afraid to play me regardless.

Jamie, I would much rather have 1000 points and 0 games than 1600 points and 550 games. It would mean that I am just green and might have potential to become a great player, after 550 games if you can't win enough while point-whoring to even become a colonel it just means you flat out suck.

Oh that explains why I'm getting crushed in my Europe game. I started out good and then everyone went out of their way to kill me. Thanks for the tip.

It was a dragoons clan game, on a Brazil map if I'm not mistaken. I'll play you anytime, but no freestyle, chained or adjacent BS.

Does anyone care to explain the secret of how you can use a triples freestyle game to devastate your opponents before they even take their first turns. Sounds like a good way to get pts.

Ped tends to like to play adjacent fortifies and I suspect he won't like someone deciding who his team are. I think Pedro and Dugc would be a hilarious team :)

Unlimited fortify was probably the ticket. Not sure how they would manage it on first turn but unlimited can be bad news on the right starting positions.
