I haven't read all the replys and I won't give any complex opinion or advisce, I just want to say, COOL MAP RJ!, I'd love to play it. I don't know much about Italy or it's provences but it definitly looks good. I had thought of making a France Map, but the vast amount of time and effort scared me away from trying. Good luck with your map, hope you can finish it.

Also, anyone ever try doing a Roman Empire map?

Hmm.. I've been looking at this thing, and am not sure what the next steps are. I think I haven't worked on for a few months, so in my mind it's complete. I'm fine with the names. I'm fine with the piers / bridges. I'm fine with the colors / bonus's.....

Playability?

Lupo? Marvadin?

I need some feedback in order to continue.

this looks great, and the purple is soooo much better.

one question-i like the bonus for main citys, but what if one person starts with 2/3 and some with none-its likely they will go on to win

Good Point. I was thinking that battles would spring up to take those cities - and the extra 1 or 2 armies would not be that big of deal. Same as Apocalypse USA has the negative 1 army for holding the radiation cities.

If others have an opinion / suggestion please share.

Edit:
I am concerned about playability. The Australian map looks great, but It seems whoever starts out in the middle of the map is doomed. I'm not sure how to test playability without really playing - but am looking for some input on this matter.

    * I used the Italian names, both in the map & legend. There are some you did not offer - tell me if they are okay as is:
      Monferrato
      Tyrol
      Trieste
Fruli (Suggested name was Friuli-Venezia Giulia but it is too long)
      Elba
      Eolie Islands
      Pantelleria
    * Moved aroud names & circles on map a bit to improve visually.
    * Made Venezia (Dark Green) a little bigger so you could see it.
    * Made San Marino a little bigger also.
    * Added Map behind bonus legend
    * Rearranged bonus legend so it flowed with the map.

Questions:
1) I'm still wondering if I should put an inpassible mountain range down the center pink / purple territories. Other than that - I'm happy with it. I will create a smaller map once I complete the large one.

2) Does Trieste look okay? I am afraid it doesn't look good. I want the map to play well AND look good.

3) Keep the lakes even though they are just there to be pretty?

Okay let's see.

Change Tyrol to Tirolo.
Fruli should be Friuli but I note it's written correctly on the map.
Change Eolie Islands to Isole Eolie.

Città has an accent on it. It should be written this way: Città

Apart from those all the names should be right.

Btw, this map is looking great. Good job! I love the visual aspect. However the sea seems to have some diagonal lines in it and after some time looking at it, it seems to irritate my eyes. A minor thing, but perhaps you could slightly modify its texture?

It's not the colour that was bothering me actually. That was fine. It's that diagonal line thing you have got. Can you change the texture of that? If you change that the original colour is fine. If you are using Photoshop that should be an easy thing to do.

A small note...maybe you could call it Italia instead of Italy as everything is in Italian? I missed that one before.

Apart from that I am happy with everything. :)

nah i like the stripes :) especily the left half
and eum the 2 things i think you have to change are:
1)no drop shadow under italy near the land side (so that the land side lyes on the same hight)
2) a background for your legend
