What beer are you currently drinking?

Post by StiffMittens »

The wife went to visit her sister this week, so I'm sitting here eating pizza (She doesn't like pizza - have you ever heard of such a thing?) and knocking back some PBRs.

I'm drinking Asahi currently because Japanese beer is nice but Korean beer is shite.

I was at a party once and met this couple who were gushing over the brews. "You have to try one, they're so freakin' awesome." I did and was distinctly underwhelmed. Maybe the overdone hype ruined it for me, but I didn't finish the first bottle.

It might be an acquired taste, I'm not sure. In any event, that's pretty much my "go-to" beer. That and Yuengling Black and Tan. I also enjoy Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout and Imperial Stout, Old Rasputin by North Coast Brewing, and St. Bernardus (on tap at Monk's Cafe in Philadelphia).

I don't believe I tried the Black Lager, but I tried a 'dark' Shiner, and I didn't much care for it, had a sweet taste to it. Seems you do find Shiner beer everywhere here in Texarkana though.

Despite you telling me about this all the time, I still have yet to try this particular Bell's.

Since moving down to Texarkana, I've been sticking to Dos Equis. Found it to be rather refreshing, particularly after our 95 F (35 C) temps we're having here.

It may have been their "Commemorator" 100 year special. they call it a "tawny" lager. It does have a sweeter aftertaste than the black lager.

No one's mentioned Abita beer - WTF?
Oh, and Falco, could you explain to us why no one south of the border drinks Corona?

Tonight I found a twenty dollar bill in some cargo shorts I hadn't worn in a while so I bought myself a twelve of Bass ale. It's gone now (both the money and the ale).

My problem is that it all tastes like horse piss to me. I drink it for the effect, not the taste. When i go out drinking i do 6 or 7 shots of Cuervo before i leave the house so i won't have to wade through a couple 6 packs to get where i want to be. My wife insists that this proves that i'm an alcoholic - not because i drink a lot, but because i just drink it for the effect. Wtf?
