I'm looking for someone to mentor me. I would consider myself a 2 - I'm decent at the board game, but need help navigating the site

I'm mainly trying to figure out strategies early on in the game whether it's for small games (2-3 players) or large games (4+ players). I also need some thoughts on general strategy on how much offense vs. how much defense and what to do if you're being overwhelmed on one front you're trying to defend (do you keep wasting your turns trying to defend it or try to take over another part of the map?)

There's probably lots for me to learn, those are just 2 starting points.

I also think I would have fun playing team games, but I haven't tried that at all yet so that can wait a bit. PM me if you would like to help me out.

Thanks!!!

Do you :-$ wanna know how to play teamgames? Pm me.
If you are willing to listen, use msn and the best live in Europe, not above 1200 points then you are a perfect candidate. =D>

Mentoree, I am a 3.5, 3-4, I have been here a while, win half my games, but just went through a period of going down 280 points and going from corporal to cadet. I just need help keeping a steady game basis, and not going on losing or winning sprees because even a winning spree only leads to something bad, for me at least. I mean I have beated a few majors and captains and not on luck maps. If I had to choose a number it would have to be four.

You can also look through the last few pages of this thread and PM someone who has responded and said that they are willing to be a mentor - and ask if they have time and are willing to teach you.

That's what I did, and it has worked out well so far. :)

Username: Spinbelt
Rank: Corporal
Score: 1152
Games: 12 completed, 6 (50%) won
Attendance: 100% of turns taken

I guess I require general help - map help and assistance in avoiding the waste of time games (like the Iraq, eight player map that I am stuck and will be for another 2 weeks at least... ::sigh::)

The Society of Cooks (SoC) is looking to expand our horizons! We teach terminator game play to new and old players alike. We also have a previously unadvertised team game class. We have an up turn in students wanting to join. We also would like to add a new teaching type so to speak to what we have already in place.
Which brings me back to the point of the post. We are looking for team teaching teams, triple TTT's. We would like to add to our program groups of teachers to teach actual teams. We would like to form teams of student to be taught as teams. Ideally this would be done by a small group of teachers that think/have played together as a team unit. The teachers can tag team class posts and give first hand team thinking.
All applicants well go through our new candidate screening. I will be in contact with all applicants both threw this thread and by way of PM. We hope to see many of you veteran team players sigh up!

Thanks Glory

Can this mentoring program help an average player get over the hump?

I've been stuck at Sergeant forever. I would like to learn what it takes to be a major. It has to be more than lucky dice.
Sound strategy, but lacking that special something. Help would be appreciated. (so I'm 3, 4 on yur list)

Hello, not sure if i posted here already. I would like to mentor someone, preferably in dubs, although terminator or standard is ok too.

Edit: I have found a student for now. I will come back and post again when I am ready to take on another.

Thanks,
George

I arrived here just under a month ago. I shot to Sergeant 1st Class and was topping 1600 points.
However I then bought Premium Membership and went mad (joining to many games at once). I think I’ve taken my eye off the ball, because I now find I have slipped to 1350 points in a week.

I play mostly Standard/Terminator– Sequential– No Spoils– Unlimited– traditional type maps.

I can offer a few pointers to anybody new (taking the load off of the more experienced players).

From experienced players I would appreciate:
• advice on how to maintain/improve my stats.
• Somebody to take me on as a doubles partner and give in-game coaching
• Advice on etiquette

Join the party. I was about to hit 1600 then went premium and joined like 60 games. Ones I had never played and whaaamm back down to private.

I would like to be a mentor.

Skill level: 3

Strengths: I can hold my own in most maps(except Mogul, Waterloo, etc.) and settings(except assassin) , but my strength is in escalating games with 6-8 players.

That depends on what "the ball" is. If it's simply points, then yes...that's definitely not the way. But if it's simply getting the most enjoyment out of the site, then you may have been hitting the ball quite squarely. <grin>
